My kitten got eaten by a coyote, he wasn't even 7 months old and he was the best cat ever. i was riding my dirt-bike and there he was, dead, in the middle of a field shredded and eaten. This is just a nice warning to the escapist magazine, keep your head down, and your rain coat on, because THERE WILL BE BLOOD


and just for conversation, have any of you ever lost a pet to another animal/nature?

I've never lost one, but one of my dogs, Sasha, a Labrador/Dalmatian cross, was the neighbourhood murderer of cute, fluffy animals. Cats, rabbits, birds and far too much wildlife. She was the most loyal and wonderful animal that I'd ever owned and when the day came that my mum said she'd had to go to a farm, where she can run around and kill all the vermin she wants and be happy, I cried my little eyes out.

It wasn't for another decade that I found out that "The Farm" was parent euphemism for pet murder.

My Puschu (am I spelling that right?) was attacked by a coyote, but I ran towards it yelling, it stopped startled, and my dog ran straight to my front door. The coyote ran off scared; I treated my dog's wounds and took her to the emergency vet, and right now she is sitting quietly in my lap. I'm somewhat afraid to let her outside now though, partially because of this thread, and partially because I just watched 30 Days of Night.

The dog we had for 14 years was attacked by and almost killed by a bigger dog twice. A cyote killed my mom's dog. One of our cats got cancer. He didn't die from being attacked, but he did vomit every day for a couple weeks (not hairballs, actual vomit.) Another cat was hit in the head with a shovel when he was a kitten. He was born in a lumber mill.

OT: My goldfish died. I was sad. Actually, I've had three fish and all of them have died within 24 hours of me bringing them home.

and well i used to have a wild galah (only australians would know what that is, it's like a pink and grey parrot) that befriended my family and even learnt to speak after my mum rescued it from a thornbush. then one day it flew away with a big flock of galahs... i guess i could call that losing a pet to nature

my cat was originally a stray, so i don't know what it was like as a kitten.

it had 4 kittens. 2 we gave away and i don't know what happened to them. the other 2 were killed by a fox.

it's still alive though. it's far to fierce for a fox to attack it, despite being 14. even at that age, it still hunts with astonishing success (i don't like this, but at least it reassures me that my cat is still healthy).

Anyway. The only animals that have killed any of my pets have been humans (in cars) and.. Cats. My cats killed the two goldfish we had in less than 24 hours.

One was eaten, one was left out in the sun to die.

These felines are a little bit evil.

This eight month old kitten I had went off one day and never came back, so I suppose that counts.

Actually, a more visceral example would be the time my landlords dog, Siucra, was ripped apart by greyhounds right in front of me.
It actually happened pretty quickly. She was dead before I could try to stop them.
It was kind of disturbing, seeing as I was eleven at the time.
Ah, man, and she was the nicest little dog you would ever meet. So affectionate, wouldn't hurt a fly. Loved to chase her own tail.
Oh well. The world is not kind to the innocent.

Now that I think about it, both of those happened in the same area.
Man, those greyhounds were fucking mental. I wonder why their owner kept letting them out?

This is why I keep my cat indoors. We have wolves, coyotes, and bears around here, and sadly my cat is dumb enough to try to make freinds with any of them. Therefore she stays indoors.

Sorry bout what happened to your cat mate, bloody shame it is. Get a new one, murder the coyote, and move on. Thats what I would do at least.

No, although my do got dragged 20ft under the bumper of my nabor's car and survived (he's one tough dog).

My uncle has so many Coyote around that you can hear them in the surrounding woods at night, watching you from the treeline. He got so freaked out that he carries an AK-47 while walking his dogs in the morning.
