Oh no. What did they do to it? I'll miss the old style, AoE was amongst one of my favorite game series. It helped give me interest in History and gaming in general. If they don't change the story to fit its cartoony look, I might give it a try.

There is a hell of a lot of speculation in this thread, you don't know anything about it apart from the art style and it's multiplayer orientated, at least give it a chance.
Gameplay > graphics.

The problem with RTSMMO's is that when your not there, you get destroyed. I really dont see why they decided to stray from the traditonal format, and I forsee doom for this.
Maybe Ensemble Studios is working on the next real AoE?
I hope to try this game though, looks like a browser based game I played awhile back. I can't remember the name though.

This is actually quite cool looking. I like it. But to be honest I'd prefer it if we could have a Rise of Nations MMORTS. I love Rise of Nations. It is probably my favourite Real Time Strategy. Plus it could be really cool with "Guilds" (But with names like NATO, SEATO, Warsaw Pact except with made up ones as well) ruling parts of the Earth. New players would start in one of the Non-Aligned Movement countries. I'd be down with it.

Looks interesting. I don't mind the style, but if they charge a fee to be online, it's a no go for me.

Age of Empires is the franshise that got me interested in strategy, being able to construct my own societies while competing with other factions for map-domination.
I eventually became unintrested in it after Age of Mythology however. I moved over to the Total War serie which had alot more to it then just base-building and micro-managing units.

honestly, the concept taken at face value sounds awesome. even if the ad doesn't do it justice..
on the other hand, I remain skeptical given the mindless suites in the AAA game's industry's latest fad of just taking a game, and blindly adding RPG and online elements to it...
I can see many, many ways this can go wrong.

I knew they were making a new game, but darn... This is a disappointment. Maybe time will prove me wrong but for now I'm not really convinced.
