What are these name things we're given (eg, paperboy, copy clerk etc.)corresponding with the number of posts we make, are thay some sort of ranking system ?

Most forums have something similar. Some places you can set your own "title", some you get assigned one. It's just a "cute thing", it doesn't mean anything. At worst, the titles encourage you to post so you can see what the higher ranks are.

Off the top of my head, these are the ones I know. Correct me if the numbers are wrong, or if I've missed any out.

1-10 = Anonymous Source.
11-50 = Paperboy.
51-200 = Copy Clerk.
201-499 = Beat Writer.
500-699 = Infamous Scribbler.
700-999 = Pulitzer Laureate.
>1000 = Gone Gonzo.

Ah, I wondered that too. I actually thought it meant their actual job at first. i thought"my there are a lot of people here in the paper industry. Maybe I've joined the wrong site" XD
Some of them are their actual jobs. If the name is gold, there is a good chance it is their job.

You missed Muckracker, my current title. No idea where it goes, though. Maybe 201-299/399?
