Wow, that is truley amazing, a large, profit-based company selling there goods, I mean WOW! I am actually shocked by this, seriously, who ever heard of it.

Wake up mate, nothing is free, nothing.
Actually it was, maps on the PC have always been free, Modders have always created maps for the community, with MW2, no dedicated servers so Activision got rid of the compeition and can charge what they want.
Yeeees because maps created by modders are not official, it is illegal for a group of modders to charge for there content, unless they pull a Garry's Mod on the community and in all my years PC Gaming, I've never heard of free content, usually all the new stuff came in expansion packs that sold for around £15-£20, this DLC malarky is a console thing.

Anyway, why should PC's get it for free hmmm? What make us so special? If we get it for free, the people on the consoles should get it for free aswell, its the right thing to do, why charge one demographic and not charge the other? It's like this bullshit that eco-cars don't have to pay roadtax, its unfair, they use the roads, there-fore they should pay roadtax.
I' am not saying PC gamers should get it for free while console players should pay, the point is that the PC has always had a strong modding community that creates free maps, If console players want to do that for consoles then great do it, although I doubt it is possible on consoles so thats why it does not happen. instead of comparing two different platoforms and asking if its fair for one to get it free while the other pays, ask yourself is it fair to pay for somethig that used to be free? in my eyes no it most certainly is not.
But company made content has never been free, thats the point, community-made maps have always been free, because it is illegal for them to sell there work, yes some companies have given the PC gaming market free stuff in the past, but thats usually for an out-dated game like Bethesda releasing all the Morrowind DLC for free after Oblivion came out, or because they actually care about there fanebase, Activision obviously see's its fanbase as one big pussy just waiting to get fucked (I appolagise, I couldnot help myself), over and over again mind you, but you get the picture I guess. I stil think that it should be paid for either way, because they take the time to make these maps, they are'nt doing it for charity.

what about all the TF2 DLC? L4D? BF2? BC2?
Like I said, some developers actually care about there fanbase, Valve & EA (I can't believe I'm saying thid about them) actually care, and BF2 is alil old now, so I wouldn't be suprised if you could get all the content for free. Activision only cares about money, and while as a business plan that is solid ground, it doesn't fair well with the fans.

Well I agree with you to an extent, Activision and IW have every right to charge for maps, I just don't like the methods they used, unoffical modders have always made maps, with the new server system imposed it made it impossible, people no longer had a choice between unoffical and official content. Its up to people though, a stupid amount of people bought the game and also bought the map packs, As far as COD is cocnerned they could just sell a box with a great big turd inside and people would still buy it in its millions, just because it has COD on the box. Kind of sad really.
