They'd never make that now

I've recently been watching Quantum Leap and the biggest thing I think about when watching it is that it would never get made today. Its a Sci-Fi show with no Sci-Fi other then the initial premise, a large amount of exterior shooting and minimal re-usable sets, only 2 regular characters and the stars were in their mid-thirties when it started. Plus the fact it puts the lead in drag (which is slightly disturbing to look at) means I can't imagine it ever getting green-lit now let alone 5 seasons on air.

Has anyone else played or watched anything recently that for various reasons you doubt would get made today?

Ahhhh. Quantum Leap. I loved that show growing up.

By far the one thing that would never get made in this day and age is Blazzing Saddles. The movie is incredibly hilarious but if you watch it, you'll know why it would never fly in modern times.

Blazing Saddles by Mel Brooks. There's NO WAY some of the racial jokes in that movie would be put on screen today. Especially coming from an old Jewish man.

EDIT: Damn. One post before me and I get ninja'd.

They had a black man dressed up in KKK garb. That's good comedy.

Now what I don't understand is how does the stuff that gets made today fly?

Black people being stereotypical annoying black? That's funny, I guess?
guy and girl get caught having sex by girl's parents? That's funny, I guess?

Step Up 3D? Piranha 3D? 3D=awesome?

[Edit]

trends really are a mystery.

I remember a show from the 70's about Adolf Hitler living next door to a Jewish family. That would never get made now.

Though I'm actually quite surprised that it got made at all.

The Super Mario Bros. movie. It wouldn't ever be released in this day and age. It just wouldn't make it past the test audience.

More than half of the Animaniacs scripts would never make it past the censor in this day and age.

Anybody remember the arcade shooter Chiller?
This was before esrb ratings obviously.
They should re-release it on the Wii; finally give Jack Thompson a heart attack.

I would say either The A-Team or MacGyver.

The A-Team: If you compare the movie to the original series, they are completly different. They relied on teamwork and make-shift enginuity to solve problems. Also, I rarly saw them actually kill anyone in the series, they used guns in quite a few of the episodes, but never did I see anyone ever shot and killed. Most of the time they ended up in fist fights with BA punching everyone the fuck out. If they were to make a new series of The A-team, they would go the ruote of the movie, and not try to keep the original's chram.

MacGyver: MacGyver never used guns to shoot people, and was largly a pacifiest, in the sense that he never killed anyone (atleast in the episodes I watched).

Todays viewers want more blood and sex than what these shows had, so they would never make it past four episodes without nostalgia...

Duck Tales, Disney making a good cartoon with 100 episodes in this day and age? Not going to happen.
