First we got Emo-Garrett, now we're getting Snidely Whiplash.

I'm suddenly happier about my gaming time having shrunk from "every waking hour" to "almost nonexistent" over the years.

Well I liked it. Personally I don't mind an unapologeticly evil villain if they are at least fun to hate and this guy looks like he fits the bill. I'm actually looking forward to this one, Human Revolution was a standout game despite its flaws so I have faith in Eidos. It also helps that I have no attachment to the original Thief games so I don't have massive amounts of nostalgia complicating things.

Does every game need to have a main villain? How interesting would be to oppose a character with understandable or even benevolent motivations, say, this Thief Taker could have been an honest law man with principles, dissatisfied with state of affairs in his city, but still sticking to code of laws which he is supposed to uphold. Instead we get a mustachio villain who looks like he is going to MWUHAHAHA at any moment.

Better yet, how about a game where you start of as a revolutionary of some sort, fight your way to power, and are subsequently forced to make increasingly difficult moral choices, until ultimately you are revealed to be the main villain of your own story? That would fuck with so many people's minds, it would be priceless and unforgettable
The first paragraph is basically describing the plot of Dragon Age 2. Many people hated the plot of Dragon Age 2.
The second paragraph is Fable 3. Pretty much everyone hated everything about Fable 3.

OT: My, that's some powerfully bad voice acting...

I haven't played any Thief games yet, but that doesn't stop this from looking corny and bland at the same time. Really, the only art in it is the picture, everything else is pathetic. Even the voice acting is annoying. And the fucking reuse of the name really irks me. Did this trend start with Sonic 06', really called Sonic The Hedgehog? What the hell are they doing?

I may not have played any Thief games yet, but I know very well what it's like to see your favourite franchises get the life sucked out of them slowly before your eye's. Sorry you lot, but the powers that be have decided to eventually ruin everything.
