Hold your horses mate, I'm an even bigger hater of CoD's sell-out nature than the next guy, but what's wrong with linear games? I mean sure CoD could go an Op Flashpoint sort of way with all the military hardware on offer, but isn't the best way to tell a tightly wound narrative through linearity?

Obviously CoD lacks a tightly wound narrative, but linear games are great! :3

I kind of hope it does, and it sells like crap, if only as a detterant to make these games and actually invest in non-linear games instead of this on rails and millionth copy of the same exact game with updated graphics :\
Non-linear=//= Good game.

I've never understood this obsession with non-linear games as though they're defiantly better than their linear counter-parts...
Indeed. A properly paced linear game can be just as engrossing an experience.

Interesting parties, eh? Tell us more about these parties.

I'm curious as to what there is to leak in this game. Perhaps they will spoil all thirty minutes of plot.

Got to just say imho, they say that they don't want people to ruin their multiplayer but they pretty much let people get off scott free with hacking and breaking their last CoD multiplayer so I find it more likely they just care about a few missing pennies more than the multiplayer breach which they claim.

But honestly now, CoD is one of the best selling games at the moment because of the Modern Warfare games right? So really shouldn't we & they all have expected this? and atleast put up some more security considering people might see pirating it as a nice pay check?

I'm surprised at the sanity contained within this thread. Have I stumbled into an alternate dimension where every person who can hold a controller doesn't treat COD like it's the holy grail of video games?

OT: They don't really have much to worry about with an Xbox leak. If it was a PC leak then they'd probably have more reason to be fretting.

I hope the thieves enjoy not being able to play multiplayer for the next three weeks.

I wonder if publishers will stop supporting the Xbox 360 because of all these leaks and pirating?

I wish I'd gotten to this thread sooner so I could have said "in b4 a bunch of predictable Call of Duty bashes from people who probably don't even like shooters in the first place and are sick of these games for the simple reason that Yahtzee is."

I'll offset all of that by saying that the Call of Duty games are fucking fantastic and I can't wait for Black Ops. I'll be buying it legitimately, though. I'm no pirate.

A leak? Oh no! The spoilers, the spoilers! Now everyone will know ahead of time that Black Ops is just like MW2 with different characters.
Actually it's set back in Vietnam.

That's a major story problem with most CoD games, they're set in the past. We know how shit's gonna end.

PS. America and it's allies LOST Vietnam.
To be fair, Black Ops doesn't exclusively take place in Vietnam. Besides, just beacuse we know how the grand scheme of things ended does not mean we know what happened to all the individuals involved....especially to those involved in black operations. :p

Anyway, it seems like piracy is increasingly becoming a problem on consoles as well. It's not at the same level as PC piracy, but it's certainly worse then it was in previous years.

Also, from now on, every time a news piece regarding pirates shows up, I am going to post this song:

Because of people canceling their pre-orders en masse when they see it's a shitport? Or because you actually believe that bullshit about "lost sales"?

No not at all to the latter. To the former my point is that it's harder to pirate for the Xbox than it is the PC. If for example I was ever planning to buy Black Ops on any platform, but let's just say the Xbox for now, but decided to download a PC leak and see what it was like before I shelled out $110 AUD and decided the game was shit, I would not buy it. Simple.

Interesting how more games get leaked on Xbox 360 than PC, but everyone seems to just ignore that. I hope it gets leaked and I hope pirates download a shitload of copies for 360.
This is true. Fallout 3 was out on Xbox 360 3 days before release, on PC it took more than a week to crack after release. Fallout New Vegas was also out 3 days early on Xbox360.

I wouldn't know. Canada had the good sense to steer the fuck away from the Vietnam War.

I think its kind of presumptuous to say that a figure like 90% of video games aren't bought but pirated on the PC. Thats like saying a deterrent prevented 80% of things from not happening. How the fuck does anyone know?
