3D platforming. (Legacy of Kain, you are a great series, but seriously - f*** your stupid platforming! Can't I just have another tedious block puzzle instead?)

And cutscenes that make the character act stupid. (You know who I'm talking about, Human Revolution.)

Having characters do things you can't do in actual gameplay like a triple spin rocket launching bad guys in an abandon ball room. I understand you can't do some things with simple input but at least have it at least possible with a fairly complex combo so we go "I feel awesome!" feeling proud of such things. No, QTEs don't count. They're just input shortcuts in my opinion.

In an RPG with 2 or more players, it's kind of annoying that the NPC doesn't acknowledge your companions in any way.

Enemy AI that obviously treat the boss like an idiot when he's not by using strategies over and over when they just don't work. I want to see more guys like Mr. Freeze in Batman: Arkham City do this.

My last complaint? WHY U NO USE EUPHORIA ANIMATION ENGINE?!

Repetitive gameplay, short gameplay, time trials/runs, bad camera, bad voice-acting, being too difficult/easy, fetch-quests, stupid AI, annoying protagonists (ones that never ask the right question or are inanely stupid), predictable plot or lack thereof, over-the-shoulder 3rd person perspective, escort missions (ones where they will die at the slightest notice).

Luckily I haven't yet played a game with all those problems in one. Yet.

Online passes.

Also, when gameplay doesn't reflect plot (for instance, when someone dies in any RPG you care to mention and for some reason the resurrection magic you've been using every few minutes for the last 50 hours mysteriously stops working)

Okay this happened in Uncharted 3 a lot and it really started to get to me. Overwhelming the player with insanely cheap enemies. In one area, I had to deal with two snipers that literally one shot you, a grenade launcher (all three on the upper level), various enemies with shotguns and assault rifles and one (or was it two?) heavy armored enemy with a shotgun. And this constantly started happening from then on. Keep in mind, that sniper rifles will one shot you once they get a bead on you, shotguns take maybe two shots, and the grenade launcher can one shot you if it hits you dead on and easily knock you out of cover. This is on normal difficulty by the way.

Actually I had a couple of cheap sniper deaths in one area due to context sensitive controls. The same button will do a roll, take cover, or grab and shove an enemy depending on where you are in the environment. At one point, I was in a small area and had to deal with two snipers while other enemies decided to run up to me. Realizing I was about to get a head shot from a sniper, I tried to roll away only to grab an enemy. I tried again and it happened again. I was literally killed because Drake wouldn't stop shoving an enemy around. This happened a couple times in one area.

These constantly cheap enemies being used in large numbers were all that made it difficult. I really hate cheap enemies.

Racing Missions.

F***ing racing missions.
Oh dear god yes. And it isn't enough that they are often annoying or even out of place. There's always gotta be a fucking million of them.

Why? Because it's cheap. All you gotta do is set up the starting and finishing line and the checkpoints in between (Even that is optional). If you're a real hard-working jackass and decide to have actual racing as opposed to time trial, you'll also set up the paths for those AI motherfuckers who always beat you to the finish line when you trip on a rock 2 feet from winning the race, thus padding the game in shitloads for yourself.

Games that are presented as services. Games that come fractured in half-a-dozen DLCs and micro-expansions requiring you to wait nearly an year for a comprehensive edition. Games that lock content out of single player and require co-op or multiplayer to access ala Fable 3. Speaking of which, games that undergo whatever unholy ritual that made Fable TLC devolve into Fable 3.

This is probably the most accurate list of "annoying things in video games". Even if you don't agree with where they're placed, you can't actually deny them! They are so true!

Just to add, I find that anything cheap (cheap difficulty, cheap enemies, and ESPECIALLY CHEAP DEATHS) is annoying.

Unskippable Splash screens, i don't want to see your little intro logo sequence everytime i load up the game.

And to some extent unskippable cutscenes, but the majority of the time i'm seeing it for the first time, so it's not that big of an issue

The biggest thing for me is swarm AI. It's so stupid and lazy on the programmers part and it just annoys me to no end.

Also, in racing games, freaking rubberbanding opponents. When you get so far ahead of the pack that victory is certain, and suddenly some dude comes rocketing up to take your place....

In regards to the Pokemon clips, I would add infinite loop sections - you know what I mean

You end up versing a bugcatcher with a lvl 6 metapod, and your starter pokemon just fainted from poisoning, and you wouldn't mind just dying and going to a pokemon center, but you automatically send out your remaining pokemon, that lvl 6 metapod of your own, and now you're locked in a heated battle of harden vs. harden until you run out of PP and have to use struggle to win, but even then the enemy metapod is at max defense and so it ends up taking up an entire 40 mins of your life. Seriously I've timed it. That's two episodes of Seinfeld I could've watched.

I know the game won't let you run from a trainer battle, but what about a forfeit option, where you lose some money and reappear at the last poke center you visited? It makes more sense to just turn off your gameboy and reload again, but then you lose all that progress you hadn't had a chance to save. It's a lose-lose situation.

RTS AI that is a cheating fucking bastard (C'mon, Blizzard I set the AI on easy, EASY! why can it still see the whole map? why does it still have unlimited resources? Why do I still get rushed with a huge army within the first 5 minutes?) This was pretty much why I was never able to have any fun with Warcraft III. The campaign was alright I guess.

12-year-old kids in CoD who cheat to unlock things via boosting, or use cheap tactics or glitches and then act all superior about it. One reason I can't stand kids on XBL is because they always seem to have no sense of fair play.

Where do I begin? Well, racing missions are awful if they are compulsory. I don't mind bonus side missions, but compulsory ones suck. Same with escort, unless they have some special element to them. One of my most hated is games that have a checkpoint at the wrong place. There is one part in BF3 where I could easily get through the first corridor, but then you go into a practice firing range thing and I kept getting killed. I don't mind dying, but then I have to go all the way back and take out the first corridor again and again when that isn't even a challenge, it's just time consuming.
