I was under the impression that when you're 13, you're actually supposed to act like an annoying moron. I don't think you're supposed to write texts like Gavaroc's (no offense).
None taken. I never said I was a normal 13 year old, I just said I was a competent one. You're right, I'm the one disgracing my age group when you think about it properly. :p
If being 13 means being an idiot, thank god my next birthday is only a month away.

The key is to ignore and block the idiots because like with every common bully if nobody responds to them even their twisted sense of logic tells them that what they're doing is pointless. They exist to make fun of people whom they believe to be lesser than themselves. A lot of people say its because of a bunch of deep psychological reasons but really they do it because they don't have anything more amusing to do. It's human nature to seek entertainment; what the education department needs to do is show these idiots how to entertain themselves without pissing off others.

At this point, it's tough to really get annoyed, due to other stuff I do in my spare time that involves the Internet, but if I had to pick one thing, it would have to be the people SPAMming any of the overdone Internet jokes you see these days, thinking they are somehow funny and original.

Other people... although this really applies to everything in my life.

Other people. Always annoying, and more to the point, always significantly better than I am. Being beaten's fine, being reamed is no fun at all. Being reamed while some knob is screaming obcenities is even less fun.

Also, the trend that every single game has to have some multiplayer mode shoehorned into it, taking away time and resources that could be spent on making the single player better.

...that makes me sound really antisocial. Oh well.

EDIT: Gah! Beaten by Rusty.

Nice to meet you Gavaroc. Just a pity that for every one like you there are twenty out there who are pretty much the poster kids for "annoying".

Things that annoy me when online? I have an anecdote. this happened to a friend of mine, who is a very competent Guild Wars player. Like, REALLY competent, this guy owns. His necro/mesmer build is terrifying.

Anyway, he's fairly casual about playing. Mostly he prefers to do the co-op storyline missions than get stuck into the PvP, but occasionally he'll drop into a PvP team arena and look for a team to hook up with.

Recently, a team he offered to join told him to pop up his signature or something (I forget the exact term, it's the "pro" way that people are advertising themselves as good PvPers, apparently). When he said he didn't have one, the immediate response was a flood of "lol noob" from pretty much ALL OF THEM.

These guys were all cookie cutter builds - IWAY warrior/rangers, 50HP monks, that sort of thing. to their way of thinking, there is one and only one way to play the game - the "pro" way, invented by some other, greater player who actually had a goddamn brain. Never mind that this necro/mesmer build my friend uses absolutely destroys IWAY builds, never mind that he's an exceptional player of the game... because he doesn't use a "pro" build or have this record of every fight he's ever won, he's an automatic noob.

And of course, he can't begin to BUILD this record of every fight he's ever won because none of the teams will take him because he doesn't HAVE this record of every fight he's ever won because he can't begin to BUILD this record of every fight he's ever won because none of the teams will take him because he doesn't HAVE this record of every fight he's ever won because he can't begin to BUILD this record of every fight he's ever won because none of the teams will take him because he doesn't HAVE this record of every fight he's ever won because... ad infinitum.

THAT is the sort of stuff that truly annoys me in games. This prescriptivist "only these select few builds, tactics and behaviours work, the rest is noob and not pro go learn 2 play noob." attitude.

Ooh! Another thing: not being able to jostle your opponent like you would if they were on the sofa next to you- it's much more fun beating/being beaten by a friend than RandomOnlinePerson32.

Wow there sure are a large amount of new users. I'm not sure if I like that.

The main think that annoyms online would be people who are jerks, even if they are nice to me. Just because no one can se eyou that does not give you reason to be a jerk.

I think jerk sums up all the types of annoying people.

Well, there are quite a few things that annoy me...

1. People who hear my voice and do one of two things, or both. One, they begin to immediately call me a British (insert homophobic/racist "insult" here), despite the fact I am actually AUSSIE. Or two, assume I am your average young, early-teen gamer. Yes, I am 13, and no, I am not making that up.

2. People who say things that make NO sense. This is also one of my favourite things. I have a nice voice message of some twit saying "THE HALO IS IN AMERICA!" because I was talking about the lag in a match of Rumble Pit. You had to be there to understand it.

3. People who call themself "PRO!". Most of these people are not, in fact, "pro". They are usually average or above average, but they have won the last 3 games in a row, so they feel SWEEEET! I met many of these people on CoD4...

4. HAXXORS! I HATE THESE PEOPLE! Anyone who kills me is a haxxor, so I meet a lot of 'em...

And finally...

5. VERY young people playing games like Halo/CoD4. Yes, I know that hypocrisy stains this part of my post, but to be honest, I really get annoyed those little 4-8 year olds who seem like they only have a very basic grip on the control scheme of the game... God, I hate the pre-game and post-game lobbies... All the people going nuts at the poor youngin's...

its the same ituation every time and this is why i stopped playing frontlines
im a sniper (yea yea big ass anoying people without a life)and im a good one at that becouse i tend to kill the same person +- 5 times before i die (mostley becouse they are stupid and constantly run into my field of fire at exactly the same location as 2 minutes ago)but the thing that anoys me is that most people think its a good strategy to switch teams then and go teamkilling me happend to me 8 times now thats when i realized that i was wasting my life playing with these assholes.
never played that game again
oyea sorry for bad english

Admins abusing their powers.

I regularly bump into people either teamkilling to get the weapons they want, then kicking/banning anyone who calls them out/retaliates. Or just kicking anyone on the other team who has the sheer nerve to win.
Or switching all the players with a high k/d ratio to their side and everyone else to the other.

Lack of "server system" on Xbox Live.If Xbox Live had servers with active Admins, there'd be a lot less morons playing it. You're a retard > Kick & Ban.

Now while squeakers are annoying, on PC's people prefer to use chat(even if they have mic!) so it's a lot less of a problem either.

Now for things I hate:

Campers(That's why I left CoD4),"leet" snipers and the fact that Pyro is really weak on TF2(which I love to use as an excuse for being a terrible player :p)

Lag. I hate lag.

I don't have much experience with immature 10-15 year olds in multiplayer, probably because I don't play games where such people are common. The only games I have extensive multiplayer experience in are Age of Empires III and EVE Online. Neither seems to attract the immature idiot type.

I don't like it when I can't understand people on voicechat. The main source of this problem, in EVE at least, is accents. I interact with foreigners a lot - both in EVE and in RL - so I'm pretty good at understanding them. But when the person has their volume low, or they are pronouncing a system name (EVE systems have made-up names), it can be a problem.

some one who sounds like they are eating there mic
hehehe. I did that once because some shits on a server were saying they couldn't hear me, even though that's what I was asking over the mic. I got kicked, but not before hearing cries of "I'm deaf!" and "That's no way to get on our good side!" It was funny to me.

Incorrect use of the term 'noob'.

Yes you killed me but it's likely your playing the most overpowered class in the game and I'm playing something I find interesting and challenging. I was also probably playing this game before you, checked plenty stats and strats on forums, tried every build of my character I could afford to and most of all you just got lucky.

People who loop the "Bill Nye the Science Guy" theme on their microphones... well... if I complain about that then I'd be a dirty hypocrite. Forget I said anything.

Thats not a fact :'( He's the best damn player on the roster!
Anyways, things that annoy me are what everyone else says pretty much. So I'm not sure what the point of posting more of the same here. Although admittedly some posts (Gavaroc) are actually rather good, and shows that us older bastards need not be so predjudiced. I've played some TF2 servers with young'uns on which use voice chat to genuinely help the team.

Pretty much everything annoys me when I'm playing online. Lag, irritating use of a microphone, people on my team quitting early, people kicking me from their game because I beat them the round before, people being incredibly unsporting, teabaggers.... anybody seen something I've missed?

Campers (esp. in COD4 and Halo 3)

Racist rednecks

Selfish teammates (i.e. hoarding power weapons, not using teamwork etc.)

Oh yeah, this is why Zombie Panic! Source is inaccessable. Limited ammo is only good in theory. not on the internet, when some bastard will come along and scoop it all up.
