The Rwandan genocide, stories I have heard from it that I can't scrub from my mind. Some of the things that happened there are the most purely evil acts committed by human beings. If I was there at the time would honestly want to be nuked.

The U.S.A.

Also:
The fact we still wage war over limited resources instead instead of using said resources to find a viable solution for the future.

The fact that even though we pretend to care about the 3rd world countries, people are still dying on a daily basis, a fact that could be prevented if only we were ready to share what we have in the west.

The fact that despite all evidence to the contrary, some people still believe som ethnicities to be inherently superior.

And a whole lot of other things I can't really be arsed to formulate before breakfast

Well the human race is sure to go downhill once we don't have enough resources, so we have nothing to worry about.

Losing hope for all of humanity because of one or two publicized acts of stupidity may be the most melodramatic thing I've ever encountered.
Yup.

People grow into a confortable desperation. Losing hope is very convenient, as you don't even have to get up from the couch to lose it. Here in Rio things are pretty bad right now, worst then ever. But there are still people helping each other and living their lifes.

Losing hope for a broad generalization is too convenient in my opinion.

Anyway, don't these topics about lost hope crop up every other week?

The ridiculous amount of non-related work required for certain career fields:
>Kid walks into an office to apply for med school. He could become the nation's leading radiologist, the world's best surgeon, or the doctor to cure cancer.
"Can you make A's in classes completely irrelevant to your work like Calculus and certain Chemistry?"
"No, bu-"
"GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY OFFICE."
...Why would you not need to read Chemistry to become anything inside health care? "Ohh let's give this sick person some medicine and hope it won't react in any bad way". But ye I have to agree with it, even if your example wasn't a good one.

He did say "certain chemistry". You don't need to know shit about chemical bonding to be a good surgeon.

Whops didn't see the word before chemistry, for some reason :S. But still what if you don't make it as a surgeon and have to become a doctor instead, kinda screwed if you´re not good with chemistry.
