Things that scare you the most in games.

Things I can hear, but can not see.

The little baby demons scrabbling around in the pipes in Doom3 freaked me right the fuck out.

Things people do with and in games scares me more than the actual games, things like the child killing mod for Skyrim, and anything to do with Manhunt, it scares me that people do that and don't really care.

Anything where I feel a sense of vulnerability. And atmosphere. The opening levels of Doom 3 used to scare the living bejesus out of me, because the lighting (or lack of) was well-done, sound was good, with the crackling radio and rumbles, and the tiny torch all helped to create the sense that shit was really going down all over the place.

The shit that creeps me out is when you've been through a lot of baddies, scary inhuman ones and are left alone in cramped quarters(example:a hallway you fell into from above, closed on one side with one way to go and you know the beasties heard you fall and know where you are) there is bad visabily, say fog or darkness with only a flickering, dying flashlight to see with. There are several large, concealed hiding places ahead for the night lurkers and you just know it. As you take your first step a creepy violin and/or slightly off little girls singing slowly fades in, building with hints of something larger and scarier in the music as well. That kind of thing scares the piss out of me

Mine would definently be:
Underwater levels: because I always feel out of my element, and I never seem to be able to see if they are coming at me until its too late.
Tiny enemies: especially the ones that are either: fast, do large damage, make creepy noises(im looking at you poison head-crab!) or are snakes, seriously, fuck snakes.

So much this. That monster-fish in Quake 2 still haunts my dreams
