I think it takes balls to cry, especially in public. Not as much as coming out gay though.

I didn't expect to cry at the Sigur Ros concert I went to. I certainly didn't expect to bawl my eyes out when Jonsi sang All Alright. My god that song is incredible.

I can't really think of any at the moment, except for in the middle of the Eureka Seven manga, I think around ch.9? Anyway, there's just this one scene that is absolutely heart-shattering.

The end of both Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan always make me weepy. Every damn time.

So do funerals. But I wouldn't say it was unexpected.

Back in February, I was driving to a city two hours or so away from here to see Clutch in concert. So during the ride, I naturally played some of their CD's to get me pumped for the show. A song called "Drink to the Dead" started playing (sorry, I would link it, but they took it down from youtube apparently), and I started thinking about my stepfather, who died last July. He and I didn't get along very well, and to be honest, his death made life a lot better for my mother and I. But there were good times with him too, and his death was still sad. The combination of that song, those thoughts, and watching the sun set while I rode down the highway just got the tears flowing.

I love that song. I think can understand what you're talking about. Songs often remind me of people, for better or worse. Also, anything with bagpipes is almost guaranteed to make me tearful, or at least make me all quiet. A lot of Johnny Cash's can be pretty damn sad too, when listened to in the right situation.
