As long as Statham keeps making that movie I will be happy to buy it.

And Orlando Bloom as a whiny pretty-boy who swordfights in a vaguely medieval setting. I don't think I've ever seen him in that role before.

Also, I would like to think that 'Your Highness' will be good, but unfortunately I don't believe any movie being marketed the way 'Your Highness' is being marketed will be good, because I have some grasp of pattern recognition.

And here's some more pattern recognition. When Movie Bob does review 'Your Highness', which he will, he will say that while it may not be very good, it features Natalie Portman in a metal thong, and therefore is worth seeing only for that. He will then go into a short segue about how much he is turned on by Natalie Portman.

Man, I should become a psychic. And I think I will hold onto this comment, just so I can post it in the thread of the 'Your Highness' review and say "Look, look, I was right!"

Bob, I think it's gotten to the point where you dislike movies more than you love them, with a handful of exceptions.

Don't get me wrong. That is not a poor reflection on you, but the industry as a whole. Sadly, studios are busier trying to milk every last dollar out of proven commodities or trying to make movies for the lowest common denominator rather than something original and entertaining.

2011 is looking damn good for movies. :)

I can't stop smiling, especially for Simon Pegg & Nick Frost's Paul. I've missed those two...

I'm sorry, I just had to point this out.

I can NOT read your post without hearing Master Shake's voice reciting it. xD

So, this year we will be getting a few jewels in a truckload of particularly toxic elephant shit. *puts on gloves and goggles* Ah, for the days of childhood where any crappy movie could be amusing.

New Muppet movie in November! Sauce of awesome!

So, a lot of interesting stuff showing up.

Avengers assembling, Harry Potter ending, and a Green superhero!... If my wit station was running, I'd try to make an environmentalist joke about that.

But of course, as everyone loves to accentuate the negative, we all know what the REAL big movie of the year is: Transformers: Wouldn't you rather be listening to Pink Floyd right now? featuring a tarpaulin-cloaked Megatron... okay, that admittedly sounds kinda cool, but it sure as hell ain't gonna save the movie. I mean, they lost Megan Fox (providing a legit reason to refine the human story) only to replace her with some no-name bimbo because they thought people like the stupid romance sub-plot (fail). That, and spray-painted the already allegedly racist Twins jet black. Smooth.

That aside, interesting year ahead. Hopefully my summer won't be so busy as to stop me seeing any of the worthwhile movies.

What, Brad Bird's making a live-action movie...with Tom Cruise no less?

[sub]...Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.[/sub]

Please Mr. Bird, stay within the realm of animation. You're so damn good at it.

I can't tell if Hollywood movies have gotten worse or my tastes got more refined. As someone who has tried to make student movies before, I tell you making entertainment, much less good art, is extremely difficult. No one can make good movies all of the time and most people can't make good movies anytime.

"Think Inception if Christopher Nolan were Travis Touchdown." [from article]
Isn't Travis Touchdown supposed to be an unlikeable, brash idiotic, narcissistic, misanthropic, sociopathic, emotional stunted, loser who is obsessed with consumer culture? I thought he was a parody of nerd fandom in general and anime fandom in particular. In other words a movie by him would be terrible unless it took place in the weird universe of his.

I thought Watchmen was terrible because Zack Synder seemed to make the movie for idiotic, misanthropic, sociopaths. Kind of like if Alan Moore were as unlikeable as Travis Touchdown.

Wow, that's a lot of movies I would like to see. And quite a few that I would set my theatre on fire for screening.

Also, anybody else misread it as Mission Impossible: Alpha Protocol? Man, that would be cool, especially if Tom Cruise wasn't in it. And neither was the title Mission Impossible

spy kids 4, happy feet 2, big mommas house 3, fast five, scream 4, rise of the apes, conanthe barbarian, and the 3 musketeers? sequel sequel sequel sequel sequel remake remake remake. AND BY THE MOVIE GODS DID ANY OF THEIR PREQUELS REALLY HINT AT OR DESERVE A SEQUEL/REMAKE?

*Rorschach voice* "No"

Also Cars 2 isn't up there because i have faith in pixar. personally i don't think they have faith in themselves like it's the twenty year mark and they're still reeling at the success of toy story and are trying to stretch that success. the premise is interesting/disturbing interesting in that i can how that could be disturbing, disturbing in that it involves Mater, as the old country boy tow truck in small town he was funny and warm, in japan and around the world he will be stereotype, cardboard cut out, "americans don't know jack" a-hole. again i have faith in pixar, it could be a good movie.

also tranformers isn't up there becasue thinking about it makes me want to hurl... Can't micheal bay do something else? something completely irrelevant... like pearl harbor 2?
