"All girls are just bitches and whores who only like jerks!" (If that were true, you would be set, wouldn't you, mister-hypothetical-self-described-"nice guy"? Seriously, I love nice guys... but only if they're genuinely nice and not expecting some kind of reward from it.)
"Well, if Twilight gets kids to read, what's the harm?" (Don't get me fucking started.)
"Comics and anime? But that's ALL kids' stuff--aren't you supposed to be a grownup?" (Yeah, don't go crying to the Blockbuster guy when you rent fucking Overfiend for your ten-year-old thinking that, since it's animated, it's for children...)
"Anime? Isn't that all just freaky cartoon porn?" (NO, GODDAMMIT, IT'S NOT.)
"Why are you reading/writing?" (...Because I like to? I find reading to be a wonderful, edifying, pure act? Writing helps me avoid a massive psychotic breakdown?)
And, as a personal pet peeve, a lot of "single-girl reassurances." I'm twenty-two and have never so much as held hands with a guy, which is a source of monstrous depression for me sometimes. (Believe me, I've tried everything!) Rather than reassuring me, a lot of these phrases just make me more nervous or depressed.
