Agreed. I've never met anyone who's read the books and hated them. The movies on the other hand got hated on quite a bit, which is too bad, because I kinda liked them.

I wasn't too keen on many of the casting choices they made for films like Going Postal, but I suppose it must be horrendously difficult to put a lot of the more fantastical elements of Pratchett's stories to film on a limited TV budget.

@Vale: I remember those times. That wasn't great. I used to find that listening to classical music helped immeasurably. I was amazed that mere humans could create something so beautiful. Eventually, something awe-inspiring and indescribably beautiful comes your way that pierces the armour of cynicism or misanthropy and reduces you to tears of ecstasy.

OT: I think that to actually hate, hate, hate something takes a lot. To dislike a lot, that's a more reasonable goal. If it came to that, I'd say money. Nobody hates money, unless it's somebody else's and/or they were beaten with massive wads of cash by their abusive father when they were young.

Yes, you may find it boring, but do you actually hate it? If someone watches it, do you ask them why do they watch dat shit? Do you take against it personally for some reason? Did it make you angry? That's what I mean by truly hating something. But if it really is the worst film you saw in the entirety of primary school, you either have insane standards or don't watch that many movies to begin with.

Well, at the time of watching I hated it, I haven't seen it since then and I wouldn't get angry at anyone or anything like that because I'm not a fuck nut. I HATE spiders, that doesn't mean I will hold anything against someone for liking them, I don't get angry at them, I just hate them and don't want them near me. Hate is different for everyone, and while you may be right that now I just find it boring and not so much as hate it as I did when I was in primary school it doesn't change the fact that someone at some point hated a movie you like, such is life.

And yes, it was the worst film I saw, partly because we had to watch it IN Japanese (as in they were speaking Japanese and our teacher did not put on subtitles for the first viewing), partly because we watched it multiple times, and because of all the other films we watched they were films we had heard of/seen already. If it makes you feel any better the second worst film I remember seeing was some gymnastics movie (I think it was Bring It On) but the reason why I didn't hate that was because I was in year 7 and girls were hot by then...

So call it juvenile racist attitude or whatever.

I am full of resentment and seething anger towards the world because my life is shit and I feel utterly powerless in general.
As a result, I don't much care for "nice" or "cute" and the idea of "wholesome" automatically make me extremely angry because I can only think of "Western" society's oppression of marginalized groups (homosexuals or people of different cultures or color) when the word comes up.
Same for romance. All I know of love is to hate other people for being lucky enough to experience it.

See, the great things you love are quite easily hated by others.
I know well enough that the horrid, brutal and relentlessly unforgiving media / themes in media I am so enamored with disgust most people. I'm not even talking about violence (or at least physical violence), but I am drawn to depictions of mental anguish and existential dread because that is what I can sympathize with, I guess. So I like shit like Roadside Picnic, or Blood Meridian (okay, "like" may not be the right word in that case) or No Country for Old Men (not because of the cattle gun, because of Tom Bell and his little dream). Or Death is my Trade. Or Malevil. Or L'Isle. Fucked-up, disconcerting, uncomfortable things.
It's all just a matter of what preferences you have, really. But nothing is "sacred" or off limits, especially when it comes to hatred.

Anyway, bacon. I've only met one person in my life who didn't like bacon, and I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even for religious or health reasons, they just didn't like the taste. To me that's like saying you don't like kittens (to look at, not to eat).

The guys funny, his podcast routinely make me chuckle even when I'm in the worst moods. Ever since he turned to weed he's been a beacon of positivity and assurance for creativity.

I can understand people hating his films, but the guy himself is just aces.
