Wow, guys, I'm impressed. We're on the third page and we've only had four mentions of "religious people" (5 if you count the atheist quip). When I saw the topic I was expecting a string of extreme-left agree religion-hate posts.

Anyway, things I don't get: Modern dance. It's always struck me as ironic that back in the days of Jeeves and Wooster, when we were all supposed to be repressed tosspots, that the dancing was massively more intimate than it is today - actually hold your partner and/or whisper sweet nothings in their ear as opposed to just jump up and down in front of them pretending you can hear them.

Also, I don't get how the UK managed to vote in New Labour for three successive terms.

Getting drunk. Seriously, I could write entire essays on why it's the most senseless form of punishment for your body. What do you honestly get out of it? Most people I talk to hate the taste of hard liquor, but drink it anyway. They hate waking up with a hangover, hate embarrassing themselves when they're drunk, and so on and so on. Yet so many people, even on these forums are all about getting hammered/plastered/whatever you want to call it.

I just don't get it.

Because it's fun? Because some people don't know when to stop and actually just go over their limit. It all does sound quite pointless when you really think about it. Then again, i am going to celebrate two friends upcoming 18th birthdays with copious amounts of alcohol (Britain).

I don't get why the media covers the death of a celebrity (i.e. Heath Ledger) for weeks but the deaths of soldiers fighting in Iraq are little more than a footnote. Imagine if they started treating celebrity deaths like they do soldier deaths, "2 actors died of a drug overdose over the weekend, five more were arrested for DUI. Coming up next in the first of an eight part segment, scientists believe they've discovered a link between Viagra and the spike in birth rates."

Maybe because it's not really news. It kind of like "Carpenter gets splinter in his finger" or "Plumber gets shit on his hands".

Because its fun. Its fun to feel dizzy and woozy and happy. Its fun to go and socialise at parties doing silly things without wondering what people think about you. Plus it tastes nice.

Maybe I'm just a boring person but that has no appeal to me. Plus it tastes like cat piss.

I've never tasted an alcoholic beverage I enjoyed. I'm also not going to go looking for one that is passable as once again, I've seen horrible things result from drinking and I refuse for anything like that to happen to me. I could control myself, but I'd rather not get into it at all.
