And in general: I prefer sexyness over violence.

Things I don't like that everyone else likes: FPS I suppose, I just don't play them. And I prefer local multiplayer over online anyday, even with friends.

What I like that others don't like-

The Butterfly Effect- An underrated movie with a meaniful message.

Little Nicky- Ok to be fair, it has been years since I last watched it so my likeness for it may not hold if watched recently.

Coconut- I swear the people I've encounter all says they hate coconut! It has something to do with the texture (the flakes). Ok sure Bounty or Russelk are never my first chocolate choice but I sure do loved coconut pastery/ cake and aswell in ice cream. I think it's due to the fact that I eat coconut Chinese buns and these coconut mochi like buns aswell that I view coconut to be normal.

Pewdiepie- Don't care what others says about him, he can make me laugh. I also liked his personality and respect he is rich from doing what he loved. Not many people can achieve their dreams.

What I don't like that others like-

Justin Beiber- Nuff said.

Markiplier- I don't liked his let played style (his initial reaction is always in mumble nor do I liked his Ned Flander like personaliy).

FPS games like COD and Halo- At this point they are bland.

Game of Thrones: It's just the worst kind of derivative tripe and it's way too far up it's own bum.
Mass Effect: The story is great, but once you realize the combat sucks, all the fun is removed from the game.
KotOR 2: The Sith Lords: The guiding character immediately struck me as an awful person and the story was just kind of weak, not to mention that KotOR had terrible combat. Seriously not giving the player first, or third person control, when lightsabers and force powers are in play is the worst mistake you can make.

at first I was going to call you my arch-nemesis...because you just shit on 3 of my favorite pieces of fiction to go back to time and time again.

kung pow enter the fist: one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen, but I fucking love it to bits, my friends and I have been quoting it for damn near 14 years now and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.

KOTOR combat: It's honestly one of the reasons I keep going back and replaying kotor 1 and 2 and DA:O, I love that exact type of combat and can't get enough of it apparently.

Norbit: This movie hit close to home on so many levels to the point my lungs were exploding while watching it the first time, this is another extremely quotable movie among my friends and it's accuracy to some things were eerie to say the least.

Drive (the movie in 2011): I can't fucking stand this movie, it bored me to fucking tears and the script was atrocious, I do think ryan gosling did a fine job with what he was given, but I can't possibly illustrate how bad this movie was to me, it's probably in my top 5 movies of all time that I refuse to watch ever again.

Moon (movie that came out in 2009): I came in with no expectations (a friend said he had a space movie to watch, that's about it) but was still left utterly disappointed, sam rockwell and kevin spacey did fine for their roles, but that doesn't stop the movie from not answering the 2 billion questions it opened up for me while watching it and leaving absolutely no answers for any of them, it absolutely baffled me afterwards that this movie got such high ratings and praise from all over.

I'm not much of a fan of seafood. In fact, it needs to be thoroughly fried before I'll even touch it, or mashed into an unrecognisable pile of soup. Yes, essentially I only like my sea food when it has no resemblance in texture to seafood. This also means that I have absolutely no love for sushi.

Alcohol is another thing. It's not a spiritual or moral problem, at all. Rather, I seem to react poorly to it. I get ridiculous searing pains from a small amount of alcohol(two relatively light beers is enough, really) and I get very flushed from even a minute amount. I have no idea why. I must have a small tolerance.

The Christian Bale Batman. Damn it. I cannot stand his horrible attempts at being "gritty", with the growling that more or less makes it impossible to decipher what he's actually saying. I mean, it's brilliant. How can anyone uncover your secret identity when you speak as if your throat was filled with gravel? It sucks for audiences, though.

I wasnt disappointed by the un-DLC/standard ending of Mass Effect 3 which at least measured by the outrage makes me a very small minority (however, I still liked the DLC-ending more).

I found V for Vendetta the movie inferior to the book unlike Watchmen where I liked both book and movie equally.

The only saving grace was V even though they made him too much of a good guy instead of the Morally Grey portrayal of him in the book. And the movie reduced the bad guys to one dimesional powerhungry assholes.

I did not care for Zelda: Link between Worlds. Everyone goes on about how great it is, but all I see is a Link to the Past Remake. It is especially egregious because so many people have called Twilight Princess a rehash of Ocarina of Time, but TP is my favorite Zelda game to date.

Silent Hill 2 is massively over-rated! Its boring and confused and mawkish and is about as scary as Scary Movie 3 deleted scenes on a Sunday morning with milk and Oreos with a fluffy purring kitten on your lap. Silent Hill 3 is superior in every way!

Also Deadpool. That movie was a mess. And I remember laughing 2 or 3 times at best. The rest was just cringe-worthy Reddit and circa 2012 4chan 'jokes' and memes. And constantly pointing out that its not funny or good or is confusing doesn't make it any less of those things!

OH! Something positive! I actually liked the Toy Soldiers games. The first one, World War 1, is the best by far. The second made the same mistake Kung Fury did, in that they think the 80s is worth remembering. Its not. Save for Michael Jackson and Thriller.
The third one has its charm. There is something about mustard gassing MLP knockoffs or using Sparkle love magic rays to liquidate Cobra and HeMan toys.

Charming is the word. Just charming.

Things I Liked That Others Did Not

Man of Steel - Sure it wasn't without its flaws (Overt Space Jesus Metaphors, Krypton was pretty unimaginative, Amy Adams as Lois Lane). But for me it did in a couple of hours what Smallville took ten painful years to accomplish; show Clark Kent/Kal-El as a man trying to find his place in the world.

Watchmen - No, this is not a Zach Snyder lovefest. But I felt he did as good as job as one could adapting the graphic novel to screen. And I liked his ending better.

Skyrim - I'm an old timey pen and paper AD&D player, and my very first exposure to The Elder Scrolls series was Morrowind. But I realized that Skyrim's comparatively shallow gameplay allows the player to graft his/her own storyline into the world. For instance, I decided to play as Elric of Melnibone and complete all the Daedric Quests because they were really the Gods of Chaos. Had a great time!

Cloverfield - Turns out I liked it for all the wrong reasons. I thought it was about a bunch of pretentious assholes getting killed by a monster. But apparently, we were supposed to feel for the characters. The entire theatre cheered at the fates of Lizzy Caplan's and TJ Miller's characters, and I love them both as actors.


Things I Did Not Like That Others Did

Ex Machina - Beautifully acted and shot but thoroughly predictable. There was an interesting idea of "artificial intelligence" versus "artificial conscience" that was hinted at but never followed through. And I'm really tired of the "fembot turning on sexist creator" trope.

The Mass Effect Series - I'm a huge Bioware fan, but I simply could not get into this game. While the writing and world building are top notch, the game is, essentially a cover-based shooter with poor FPS mechanics.

The Walking Dead - I watched the first two seasons back to back and enjoyed them. But was never compelled to continue. There's really no specific reason...it just didn't grab me.

Side Note Others may not like pants. I myself can't stand shirts and shoes.

Dragon Age 2. I liked it. It's actually my favorite of the three. It's taking me a long time to complete Inquisition, for sure.

I liked the Watchmen movie a lot and it got me into the book (and comic books in general). I also dug Howard the Duck, both ironically and also sincerely for its unabashed goofiness. It really made me want to read more of the comics, too. Cloud Atlas was a great movie and the only Wachowskis thing I still like. There's an old similar Robin Williams movie called Being Human that was a huge bomb that I've always been fascinated with. Supposedly there's a better director's cut out there, but they'll probably never release it due to lack of interest on the part of everyone but me.

I really like old black and white films, especially Humphrey Bogart movies. I love The Big Sleep, Key Largo, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, To Have and Have Not, and The Maltese Falcon. You notice any big omissions there? I cannot stand Casablanca. Every time I try to watch it, it puts me right to sleep. Tons of WW2 politics I never fully understand, plus little to no character development before being asked to care about a love story that happened some time in the past... Bleh. I just can't do it and I have no idea why it's held in such high regard. I hesitate to mention my admittedly weak criticisms because I know it could be easily explained away or dismissed. I don't want to even try to like it anymore because it just makes me so sleepy.

I also can't find anyone online that hates Patapon as much as I do. Just tried it because of all the great things I've heard, but the design is so damn annoying. Try this level, oh you died, go back to level one, get the special song, try again, die, equip the secret thing, play a song ten times in a row, play a minigame, fail, do it again ten more times until you figure it out, then trudge slowly through the rest of the desert with the new and barely interesting gameplay mechanic.

I liked Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. I don't care what anybody says, that movie was a good finale to the trilogy (...of the first three movies), even if it did get confusing at times.

Also, I despise Teen Titans Go, calling it a bland, brainless bastardization of a good cartoon. And yet Cartoon Network loves shoving it down our throats like whatever they put in a goose to make pate. You can like the show if you want, but you'll never get me to like it.

Things most people seem to like, but I don't:

Wrath of Khan . Never understood the love for it. I don't hate it, it just feels very 'meh' to me. The Undiscovered Country, now that's my favorite Star Trek movie, yet, almost no one talks about it.

Game of Thrones. It's just a poorly made show. Too much nudity, not enough character or plot development. Some minor scenes that didn't happen in the books are okay, but that's about it.

Firefly. Never understood the love for it, and I adore Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Maybe it was too short for me to become emotionally invested to the show.

Walking Dead (TV show). It just didn't interest me, so bland, lifeless (heh), devoid of humor. And I couldn't stand the Governor.

Iron man. Heard good things about it, watched it, thought it was completely average movie. Nothing great, nothing bad.

English dub in anime. Okay, first, I need to mention, that I haven't watched that much anime with an English dub, but when I have, it's been bad most of the time. Not to say that Japanese are flawless when it comes to voice acting (over acting? What's that?).

Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think it's weakest of the Indiana Jones trilogy.

And vice versa:

Temple of Doom. Probably my favorite IJ movie. The sets, the music, the action, it just one hell of a roller coaster (damn I'm funny).

Ghostbusters 2. I like it more than the first one, but I'm first to admit it's because it was the first Ghostbuster movie I saw.

Adam West's Batman Is it dark? No. Is it trying to be serious? Definitely not. Do I love it? Why, yes I do! It's funny, colorful, entertaining and it doesn't take itself seriously.

Fantastic Four '05. I watched it and thought it was awerage or okay, like Iron man. Then I heard the reviews and how everyone hated it, and I just couldn't understand why.

Alien 3. It has flaws, but I still think it's still a good Alien movie. Though near the end it gets kinda confusing.

Silent Hill movie. I haven't really played the Silent Hill series, so maybe that's why I kinda liked it. I do, however think, that it lacked in horror and the feeling of being alone and isolated in an empty town. You should feel more uneasy, when watching a film about Silent Hill.

I am going to say it.

Last year I have watched the entirty of 2 Star Trek series. The Original Series and The Next Generation.

I have watched every single episode and their repspective movies.

And when it comes to the movies....I found MOST of the Odd-Numbered Star Trek movies not that bad. I have been constantly told that Star Trek: Motion Picture, The Search for Spock, The Final Frontier, Generations, Inserrection, and including Nemesis to be BAD films.

But then I watch every single movie and I really don't see any patterns.

I found Motion Picture to be an Alright movie (I view it as the true Final Episode of the Original Series)

Search for Spock was just as good as Wrath of Khan.

Final Frontier mabye have its issues but at least its watchable, in contrast I dislike The Voyage Home. Keep that movie away from me.

Generations again was not that bad of a movie and honestly I have seen TNG episodes that are worse then Generations (Sub Rosa).

I agree that Insurrection is Fleas on the Camel's Balls.

Finally Nemesis and honestly...I like this movie best of all the TNG movies.

I actually basically agree with you, and I am a lifelong Trekkie. The odd number rule has always been wrong. Or at least, it's blown way out of proportion. TMP is, well, disappointing as a first Trek film, just because it managed to be both a retread of a previous episode and seem like a totally different franchise what with all the "2001" imagery and oddity.

But "Search for Spock" is a good movie. I can't agree that's it's as good as "Wrath of Khan," but it's a fine follow up. I happened to like "Voyage Home," but it is an odd film out, so to speak, and I get why you wouldn't like it so much.

Now, "Final Frontier" is crap, it's easily the worst of them all, but again, not pure dog shit or anything. Just stupid. And with Shatner in charge of it, that's understandable.

"Generations" biggest problem was just feeling like a 2 hour episode of the show, which isn't really the fault of the movie as they had to make it at the same time they were producing the end of the series. "Insurrection" is indeed painfully bad, but I don't understand the hate for "Nemesis." It's no "First Contact" but it's interesting and has some great scenes. People say it killed Star Trek, which it apparently somehow did. But I think people were just bored with TNG and it's aging actors by then, not because the film was so terrible.

1. Interesting. Also, apparently Roddenberry was very much against The Undiscovered Country.

2. I read the books first. If it had happened the other way around, I might be less critical of the show.

3. I'm not against the serious approach, no, by all means, do it. But there's always a silver lining, now matter how shitty things get, humor doesn't disappear from our lifes. If anything, humor helps you get you through stressful situations in life (the amount of jokes and overall laughter was everywhere when I was in the military).

What I like that others dislike:

the Star Wars prequels: I can understand why people dislike the movies. They certainly have their flaws, but in my oppinion they aren't that bad and there are many movies that are worse than them.

Something that I can't really like anymore that others probably do:

Hary Potter both the movies and books. While the story is certainly interesting, there are quite a few parts of the story that, in my opinion, rely on everyone being just stupid or incompetent so that the kids have to save the day.

-Any manga or anime that involves highschoolers that isn't either Beelzebub, Prison School, Blue Exorcist or JoJo's Bizzare Adventure. All the rest of it is mainly uselessly shite harem-senpai crap that I haven't gotten in to due to pure disgust for them.
-Vampires, just in general. The fuck is the appeal for these pathetic bastards? They thrive off of the night being the only time they can come around even though that essentially makes them rather uselessly easy to kill. And I have yet to see a moment where they weren't all the same Eastern-European accented pretentious dark-haired white person that pulls that serial killer Blink-Teleport crap. Yes I enjoyed BloodRayne well enough and yes I love Vampires The Masquerade and all that stuff, but otherwise the only other vampires I can think of that are actually in any way entertaining for me are freaking Dio from JoJo along with Alucard and Seras from Helsing. And even then Alucard is some sort of bullshit "Special Vampire" as far as I could understand with his Millions of Shadow Stands crap and JoJo vampires are completely irrelevant at this point.
-The Arkham Games, don't get me wrong they're well made games in their own right. Well the first three were. Okay the peak was Arkham City. I never got around to finishing it though- Okay so yeah they're all fine games. But they are most definitely not the kinds of games I can sit through for very long. Mainly because I also kind of sort of hate Batman himself. There's only so long that the childlike wonder of hearing Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill(For I think 3 out of the 4 games) can last for me till I get so bored that I just can't even motivate my hands to do something with it.
-TellTale Games, more specifically the hype behind them, I swear if there was ever a Pretentiousness Event Horizon then TellTale would have been the one moron to nosedive right through it. Most of their games are pretty alright I suppose I only ever played Monkey Island, The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Game of Thrones and while I will say that I fairly enjoyed these games plenty. What isn't very alright is the fact that people go NUTS over these games. I don't know if it's because of the Let's Play Bait surrounding them but I can sure as hell say that I wasn't going to label these all as Game of The Year contenders. Maybe one of them but otherwise calm the hell down and let the games just prove themselves each with a second season first off.

Things I Like That People Seem To Hate:
-I swear any time I even remotely HINT at the existence of games about people with super powers and the like everyone starts throwing a pissfit. Not specifically here at The Escapist forums but about everywhere else it's just ridiculous. Mention inFAMOUS, [PROTOTYPE], Gravity Rush, Starhawk or anything involving Raiden from Metal Gear and holy crap do people just lose it. Which is ironic considering these are sometimes also my friends who enjoyed the Arkham games so screw em, I'll still keep playing my pseudo-superhero games.
-Cartoony visuals, even if they are the bane of some people who REALLY want their realistic graphics. I for one could care less and would prefer that people tried stylizing more than they did try to immerse. Because I can kind of guarantee that the grit is gonna make the game look atrocious later down the line. Even if you want a realistic LOOKING game, at least try to make sure the game is still good to look at down the line. And for the love of God make the people NOT look like potatoes with facial features.

Well that's a quite-not-really-so-depressing list for how it's weighed.
