I only realised how the town naming systems work recently... In R/B/W it's colours (except for pallet town, which I guess is related), in G/S/C it's trees... I haven't played other generations except remakes though, so I don't know about the rest.

Actualy the towns in jhoto are named after flowers and types of wood, not trees.

Hoenn's town's names are mixed words(petal+burg,dew+ford,etc...), although i'm not sure if they use
a specific type of nomeclature methods in the other regions.

I recently found out that Voltorb is Volt and Orb combined.

Also, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres ends with Uno, Dos and Tres.
People tend to point that out all the time, but it hadn't been mentioned here yet.

I'm ashamed to say that it took me a while before I learnt rock type attacks are super effective against ice. I knew that Ice was weak to steel and fighting but I didn't know about rocks, I thought it was the other way about.

In the French versions of the games, the Gym Leaders are called Champions, whilst the Champion (I.E, final boss is called the Matrie meaning Master.)

Also I already know that the Towns/Cities in Kanto are named after colours except Pallet town and that the bird trio is Uno, Dos Tres but what I didn't realise is their colours Blue, Yellow and Red which are the three primary colours.

The theme that plays in Olivine City lightouse in Heartgold/Soulsilver is a remix of the Sinnoh Gym Leader theme.

yeah there is a theory that, baby khangaskan was missingo or something but it was re-veiled that it was something to do with the code for the old guy that teaches you how to catch Pokemon

There were 38 Missingnos and each one was a cut pokemon, they'd later be added in G/S/C but narrowing them down has been tough (most agree that the likes of Donphan and Ampharos were in as them being cut explains the....... odd choices in the original Safari Park, as well as ice types like Delibird, Swinub and Poliswine, would have meant Seafoam Islands would have more to offer than Seal) and many think the pokemon that appeared in the anime early like Ho-oh and Togepi were meant to be in it originally, hell, one of the original Developers confirmed that there was meant to be more than the original 151 in Pokemon Red, but they had to be removed for tech and budget reasons....

It wasn't so much that they made more Pokemon, but had planned to but for whatever reason only went with 151. The reason for the vast amount of glitch Pokémon in Generation I is because only 151 index values correspond to valid Pokémon; while another 39 correspond to blank Pokemon data with no assigned number, hence MissingNo (Missing Number)


Why are the Safari Zone Pokemon in Red/Blue odd choices? I don't see the link to Donphan and Ampharos.

As for my thing I never noticed, when I saw the Gen V Pokemon Maractus;

I thought that it's head was it's body and it's right "ear" was were it's face was (two yellow eyes and a dark green jaw). It's left ear and right arms were it's arms while it's left arm and body were it's feet, so it was standing on one leg kicking. And I've probably confused all of you by trying to explain this.

Anyway the point is that it wasn't until I saw some other artwork of it that I realised what I was actually looking at.

i don't know how true this is, but someone told me a few weeks ago that the black tail is wobbuffet and that the blue thing is just a meat shield

That is definitely just a fan theory, although I would love it to be true.

also that squirtle is called that because it has a turtles body and a squirrels tail

I would have thought it was a combination of "squirt" (as in to spray or little) and "turtle".
