A metal detector

Stained glass

Some sort of large excavating equipment, like a bulldozer or something. Actually, vehicles in general would be awesome.

I want the ability to build camouflaged doors because I'm all about hidden passages to build them put a door in the center and surround it with what block you want it to look like

Animal Domestication: Herd sheep into a corner and have them regen wool over days. Along with that, horses, for faster movement speed. May be able to use items on it.
As others have said, stained glass. That'd be sweet.
And also, more furniture stuffs. My giant castle just seems empty and boring. They don't have to do anything, just decoration.
I would like larger scale doors as well for my fortress gates.

Wedge blocks.

Yep that's it. Just a square block cut in half at an angle. It would add a lot of dimension to structures.

Lures for mobs.

A hatch (like a horziontal door) so you can protect your tree-house from being entered by mobs via a ladder.

A world builder like in most games, where you can raise / lower, smooth, etc. World editing don't do that (as far as I know).

The ability to create NPC's, create your own shops, set up "rules" (like no mining certain blocks, no mining without a pick, etc.. to allow people to create their own RPG's).

Lanterns, either placable on a standard or to be carried, possibly fueled by oil.

The option to disable certain mobs. Skeletons and zombies are fine, but creepers...they always ALWAYS destroy my creations at some point. I want the challange of mobs, but I don't want to have to rebuild structures when one decided to blow itself up inside it.

The Aether and all the stuff in it to be implemented right into the game (full armor set bonuses, flying tamed mounts, dungeons, ect...)

The ability to place Redstone Circuits on any side of any block, not just the top of it so I can have the circuit go DOWN the side of a block instead of goofly down through repeaters.

Some sort of portable light source. Lanterns, Headlamps, a flying orb, whatever.

More types of weapons, not just swords and bows, what about Guns, Maces, Lances, all the fun medieval stuff.

Furniture. I hate how "empty" my houses are. Yes, there are pictures and bookshelves, but some more furniture would be nice. A couch or sofa and maybe vases in which you could put flowers.

And I would love if redcircuit would be "smaller", e.g. a single block would be divided into 4 redcircuit placable spots. Redcircuits should also be allowed to put on vertical walls. I mainly have a problem with the size that a good contraptions takes.

I want a catapult. So I can launch myself or mobs across the map. Admit it, if you could you'd use it to throw a creeper at a spider jockey

Firearms. Like a shotgun or a musket. Or maybe a crossbow. And horseback riding. Or maybe the ability to tame spiders then ride them. That'd be badass.

Yeah. Definitely some useless furniture would help. I have these giant castles that are empty. All one can use is bookshelves and chests (and maybe pictures). I want statues, suits of armor, weapons on the wall, tables (real ones) and maybe some chairs.

That.

Right now, I'm pretty content with the game, but there is one thing I want added. An option at the new world setup to dictate if the world has NPCs or not. That way, people who like the isolation still have it, while those who would prefer to play in a populated world offline have the option as well.

What do you want added before final release?

EDIT. I also want moving blocks. I'd love to see a rotating windmill.
It's Adventure mode, not Survival addition.

I've said this in literally every thread about MineCraft I've been on... I'm starting to wonder if it's even true :p

Anyway, I'd just like to see some new ores, items, mobs, that kind of thing. And some simplification for redstone wouldn't be such a bad thing either.
The NPC villages, dungeons and things like that are going to be added in the "Adventure Update". However, to clear things up, Jeb has said that adventure update does not imply adventure mode, not to say that it couldn't, though. This would indicate that these features may end up being part of survival mode and that adventure mode could be something else added later. However, I could very easily be going off of outdated information, and it's possible adventure mode has been confirmed.
I've always based it off the fact that they've said 'blocks cannot be moved or placed in Adventure Mode'.

Which a) Makes Adventure Mode sound pointless, and b) makes it sound like an extra mode.

Admittedly, it's old news, so might have changed, but I really doubt they'd change Survival so dramatically.
Actually, this is the Adventure UPDATE, not Adventure MODE (Notch specified this in his blog) so it might not even add Adventure mode in this update,

More water mobs. The seas are so empty...
Also: sky mobs. Not necessarily hostile, but just that there BE something in the sky.

I would like food to have enough of a purpose to make it worth collecting/making/cooking a wide variety of food rather than just taking whatever gives you the most health.

See, I like to cook in real life and cooking in a game, like say, Runescape is kind of rewarding since you have to go through multiple steps to produce a food item. But that game and Minecraft have the same problem in that food just heals damage. This means there is no reason to bother with any food item that does not have the highest low effort to make/amount of health healed ratio. This means you're probably going to just stick to pork chops or maybe mushroom stew if you carry a workbench, stack of bowls and stacks of mushrooms. Everything else either heals less or is difficult to acquire compared to pork chops.

Food should have other uses or effects to make it worth the player's while to carry and eat them. Maybe, for example, mushroom stew increases you damage for a fixed period of time. This means when in a cave and you hear a zombie, you might eat a bowl before you actually encounter them in hopes of being able to take them down quicker.

The could have other effects as well, like causing two dirt to drop when you clear one block, doubling the amount of dirt you collect.

Stuff of this nature. It would be nice.

Another thing that would be nice are what I call "megavehicles." That is large moving objects. Like say you build a pirate ship, so you can run around inside the ship like it was a home base, but it can move.

I understand that moving multiple block around eats computing resources like mad. Hence why too much TNT going off causes the game to crash. So some sort of workaround would need to be figured out. But building a large, mobile home would be nice.

Minecraft has this Age of Discovery/New World feel to it. I think that's why a lot of people would like to see muskets/guns/cannons and ships, etc. It also has a steampunk feel to it. Plus, steampunk mods seem to just feel right.

That's why I think Minecraft should move towards the New World/steampunk setting. Giant beasts would also fit in quite well.

I think Minecraft should have say, 5 custom settings that you change in the options. E.g.
:Medieval
:Steampunk
:Future
:Modern
:Something

You can do it with mods, but that seems like a hassle mainly because of compatibility issues. Plus, when it comes to Xbox you won't be able to use mods.

Being able to plant hedges. I don't mean the little blocks of leafs, which last time I checked still had to be attached to wood. No, real hedges.
But good sir! You *can* make hedges, simply harvest leaves with shears, and they become placeable blocks!
True, but those will disappear unless you place them on wood. I'm not quite sure what Notch was thinking, but it's quite stupid :(
Sounds like a blocky version of splicing to me, joining a branch from one tree into the wood of another will allow the branch to grow normally.

what I want is something half way between minecraft and terraria... I want the combat, boss idea, and gear crafting of terraria, but with the function and elegance of minecraft. so make your crazy big castles that get attacked by really big bosses! and give them something potent, so you can't just hide out.

Hmm. I like Minecraft the way it is right now, but if I had to add something, that would be more variety while mining. I hate seeing just the same stone blocks everywhere when I go mining, there should be different types of stone, they alreay have sandstone near the surface, but also granite, marble, limestone, basalt, shale etc. Each of these have different depths at which they are common, will have changes in the materials they carry (so that they also double as an ore detector, if you want iron, you go look for the rock type that will carry more iron.)
Oh, I guess just better geology in general, with different cave types, plains for building, then mountains for mining, all sorts of fun stuff should be added to the world. The construction is fine, I love that part, but we need more dynamics in the world itself.
