Not sure if this is a "thing" persay but being loved and accepted by others. It's our prime psychological need. Not even the suicidal people hate that, they're usually suicidal because they don't get enough of that. Same thing with sociopaths. No one wants everyone to hate them. There are people who feed off of a specific group "hating" them, but that's usually because they want to appear to be counterculture or once again didn't get enough love in the first place.

I know this thread is lighthearted and just meant for people to try to come up with such a thing. There was a time in 1984 when pretty much everyone didn't hate Thriller(except for hardcore Christians) but look at what history did to that whole thing.
Super maudlin teenagers even hate air, after they hate everything else in their awkward lives. When it comes down to a duality of things...one group will hate the other thing just because some jerk they hate loves it. Hate can be way out proportion too..like this recent declaring of Pluto as a non planet...polls indicated that Pluto was a favorite planet(when really Saturn would win hands down on any decent level headed poll) So as this thread rolls through the Chili Peppers, the Beatles, Pizza, strawberries, kittens, or existence...you will find all sorts of rational and irrational justifications for allergies and situations that caused you to dislike, loath or hate something, or love it.

OT: I'm pretty sure no one hates Firefly

Sad Firefly story. Those discs are really hard to get out (of my case at least) and I accidentally broke disc 3, which happens to be the best disc of the lot. I still have to buy a set for myself (it's the family's), but when I do, you better watch out 'Disc 3' I'm going to watch you 'til my eyes bleed rainbows.

OT: I'll agree with Firefly, anyone who has watched it would be, at worst, a mild incompatability with the genre (space cowboys is a genre okay!) or apathy. Anyone who could hate it would either not have watched it, or started but stopped at 'incompatability' and never actually reached hatred.

I'm pretty sure there are some people out there who are "OMG FIREFLY IS THE WORST THING I EVER WATCHED I'M SO GLAD IT WAS CANCELED" to be edgy and different and fill that void left in their beings from never having grown a soul. >_>

Seriously. I've known people who didn't like it or weren't interested, and everyone has their tastes, but if you found a way to out-and-out HATE it you have no soul. Simple as.

Me and a friend of mine have a theory that no one on Earth hates the Red Hot Chili Peppers. There are people that dislike them or their music, but no one seems to actively HATE them.

Sorry to disprove your theory, but I hate both the band and their music. Their music to me is overproduced attempt of trying to fuse funk, punk, rock and other genres that comes off disjointed.

Anthony comes off like a trendy burnout and as a bass player, Flea disgusts me with how lazy he has gotten by adopting the Les Claypool technique of playing bass by simply downtuning everything.

They were overhyped in the late 90s and they are right about at their proper level of note now, which is basically faded from memory.

I think they're one of the most boring bands ever. And I swear I'm not just saying this to be confrontational, but I do hate the Peppers.

The band members seem like douchebags too. Fuck with my Mr. Bungle...

There's a hole in your theory roughly my shape and size. I hate their music, every single member of the band as a human being and all three people I've known who listen to them. In short, they make me rage.

Sorry but I do its just they are so popular and they don't deserve it, there are so many better bands that deserve that fame.

I hate the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I just do. I'm not going to go out and say why, because it'll seem aggressive and it leads to a series of difficult discussions, but yeah. Basic point.

I've yet to hear someone say they dislike the Wire. I checked amazon.co.uk for reviews of the complete box set, and out of 145 reviews, there's just one 1 star review. The review says that he never received the product. There are no 2 star reviews either.
