Hello! Online I post threads with a bitter and cynical, yet often humorous (or I attempt to be humorous) point of view! It seems time and time again I can't help but denounce 'Families First' policies simply because this ideal is what I consider a flawed one. Gamers especially are probably aware that when someone fucks something up instantly games, friends, or even music gets blamed. Then when someone does something right like getting passing with honors it's entirely because you were raised right by incredibly perfect parents.

No credit is given to the friend who helped him pass though, perhaps it's because he did a few drugs? No credit is given to the teachers, the people a lot of kids see far more then there parents. And very little credit is given to the child who actually did the damn work, he gets a bit of praise 'we're proud of you!' And then the parents brag on and on.

By now you're probably wondering where the hell I'm going with this, well, It's clear I feel bitter towards people and time after time I find something that cheers me up a lot.

'Massachusetts YMCA bans parents from youth basketball games'

http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2010/02/massachusetts_ymca_bans_parent.html

To make it short, I love it when fellow adults make assholes of them selves. I can't help but wonder how much of those parents used one of these lines before:

'They turned up that way because of bad parents'
'Bad friends.'
'Games'

Personally I'm with the ban absolutely, they screwed up so I say fuck 'em.

I wish they'd allow some leeway for "it must be the fault of the parents". Seriously, I'm fairly certain that children have a little something called free will too.

You can have someone brought up with great parents, great friends, and with a minimum of gaming experience, and they can still go crazy and murder someone, or even skip the going crazy part.

Shall we blame the human brain's defects? That's either God, Darwin's or nobody's fault, but damnit, God, Darwin and Nobody just never get the blame, karma houdinis that they are.

Vicariism, maybe?

Parents viewing their child's successes as theirs?

I've yet to see bad parenting or schools taking responsibility for a child committing suicide or murdering someone else. Every time, either no one receives the blame and it becomes a case of "well, it happened, we'll try to learn from our mistakes" (especially true with cases of suicide, since NO ONE ever gets prosecuted, funny how assisting suicide is an offence you can get jailed for though). However, in cases where something can be blamed besides the schools or parents, they often are blamed. Doom and Marilyn Manson has been blamed for the Columbine Shooting, Manhunt for a murder a while back and GTA for a large string of murder offences.

I honestly think people, and especially the media, needs to stop using scapegoats. It's not helping anything, and if anything it's hindering actual progress. Instead of schools watching carefully for signs of depression or narcissistic behaviour (which can lead to spree killing and suicide), they're in a sense of security where no matter what happens, it's likely under the influence of media. While I'm not saying media doesn't have influence at all; inspiration or ideas is only half, if that, of why people murder or commit suicide. The other half, if not a higher percentage, is motivation. Happy people don't kill themselves and stable people don't kill others, no matter how many computer games they play, how much music they listen to or how much television they watch.
