Think Modern Warfare 2 is already controversial?

Interesting take on warfare, but it's so true.
Why can't we ignore something like this leaking into popular culture? Why does everyone have to be so damn "PeeCee" all the fucking time?!
I think it's a brilliant idea to include in a videogame, and I'm sick of people getting uppity over what is essentially nothing. What? We want them to lie to us? make it seem as though things like that don't happen everyday? We live in a world where nobody dies or harbours ill-will towards another human being? Please... Just relax your goddamn rules and regulations once in a while.
Moder Warfare is one of the few games series not afraid to show the inglorious, hypocritical, evil side of war, and I for one commend Infinity Ward for their courage to include something like this.

It seems unlikely that you will have to kill the innocents. My guess is that watching will be necessary but killing will be optional. Still, I did find the video disturbing and uncomfortable, because I hate seeing blood and gore and violence. However I recognise it as a powerful and clever way to introduce the player to the game, not to mention something that will make you hate your enemy even more. Games need more storytelling elements, and this game offers them. My parents really aren't going to like this...though I suppose I can always just play multiplayer. On a side note, get ready for the news coverage. Hilarity will ensue...

I think that is very clever. A little out of the ordinary. After all when you get down to it it is a war game, and this sort of think happens. And nobody really has the right to complain because this sort of thing is going on around the world at the moment and nothing is being done.

The CIA agent thing is a good way to lighten the blow. Personally I don't have much against it, as long as this is part of some sort of defining of character, motivations, etc. If it's just killing for the sake of killing, and they couldn't have just snuck through the terminal undetected then it's not being mature at all, just like Postal.
(then again, if they depicted someone sneaking through the metal detectors, someone would probably try to do that in real life)

I don't understand this logic.

Assuming this scene is a significant event in the game, then I can understand why they would put it in. It establishes how brutal and disgusting the big bad is. It forces the player out of there comfort zone to show them the horrors of war. You're supposed to get emotional. That's the only point I can see to the inclusion of such a horrific event.

But if it's just a game, and not meant to be taken seriously, then what would be the point of such a scene? If you're not supposed to get emotional over this, then I can't imagine why they would include this in the game. It would just be tasteless. I think the developers want us to treat it as more than just a game.

I'm not saying you shouldn't feel emotion, i'm merely saying its utter none-sense to make it into something controversial.

People are too sensitive and think their beliefs hold more weight than your rights. After all if it offends them then they should never have to see it, even if it is THEIR choice to view and watch this event. But since the option is there for them to be offended clearly it has to just be removed so they have no option to be offended. See how it works? You get no rights because someone might be offended.

On topic for the game, war is brutal, and if you're going to play a game that depicts war and all the things that make it brutal, you might have to do somethings that you may find unethical. Maybe like the soldiers in reality that had to kill armed children?
