Yeah, so I'm basicaly done with school. Still not sure 'bout this, and not doing anything drastic yet. Probably gonna try to tough it out, but I'm really unsure. I know most of the downsides, but I really want to hear some ideas/thoughts on this from some one else.

I'm only 15 (16 in Feb), so I may have to wait until I'm old enough to secure some kind of job...

So, opinions?
Go for it IF you can secure some kind of apprenticeship. If you don't like school its not going to get better after. I hated school, so there was no way was going to go to university after that. I acquired some skills when I finished and am now living comfortably in quite a well paying job and in the process of starting my own business. Just play to your strengths and work hard at whatever you decide.

Don't do it. It's the dumbest thing you could ever do. Just stay and learn.

No. Simple as that. I am 17 and personally, I am starting to hate high school too but dropping out? People will always be looking down at you for quitting, you cause your parents more of a burden than is needed, you cause yourself more of a trouble than is needed, you can wait a while before going to college or even stop college when you feel like it, but high school? You drop out now, and dude, that's it. End of story. No chance to try again when you feel like it, and no second chance. You'd have to do it and PAY for it so it is quite ridiculous to drop out for any reason other than a major death in your family and you need a year to coupe with it or if you have a pair of super rich parents willing to pamper you until you are able to make it on your own.

It is possible to become successful and drop out of school, but chances are not in your favor for that. Tough it out bro. You might even find a reason to go to college and get a degree if you spend enough time at high school.

Trust me, I had no idea what I wanted to do for the future of my life in my freshman and sophomore years. Then, by the time I'm a senior, I decided that I wanted to go to college for pre-med. It takes different amounts of time for different people to figure out what they want to do. The least you could have under your belt is a diploma.

I just totaly lack drive. I truely don't/can't give a shit. I'll sit there, knowing that my grade is plumeting and it doesn't bother me. All day I just sit there and phaze out, or serf around on my phone.
That's how I was in school, So I can understand where you're coming from. That being said, I think you should stick with it. I stuck with it, all the way up until my senior year. I moved, and my school screwed up my transcripts, didn't give me enough credits. So, the new school I moved to wanted me to go an extra two years. That is where I just gave up, I honestly decided it wasn't worth it. It was hard enough for me to force myself through the first 4 years, there was no way I was gonna go an extra 2. I don't regret dropping out personally. But, you might feel differently afterwards, so I think you should give it another year or two. You should really think about this for awhile.

Not only is it a dumb idea, but isn't it illegal to drop out until you're 18?

I'll be 18 in grade 12. Don't know how it works wherever you live.

At the very least, finish high school. Unless you want to be working at McDonalds or Walmart or something like that for the rest of your life. Most trades even require at least a high school education to start you apprenticeship, so...

...Some people (like myself) are in advanced classes/bumped up grades/graduating early?

I'm 21 and am currently in my fifth year at the University of Phoenix.

Drop out if you are okay with stunted career potential and being set back several years when you realize how stupid the decision was.

I know people who have been searching fora job for months on end, and they've all graduated at least at the high school level. If they are struggling to find a job, someone who hasn't finished High School won't find a job. Don't drop out. You will regret it. You will. Now as to how this affects your actual decision? I hope it does at least a little, but if it doesn't: best of luck with whatever you do. Hopefully I'm wishing you best of luck in the remainder of your high school career, and if not, you'll really need all the luck you can get.

If he's thinking of dropping out at 15, I doubt he's in any advanced classes.

A lot of people with a College education already have a hard time finding good steady jobs. If THEY'RE having a problem finding a job, imagine someone who doesn't even have a High School Degree.

Shit, even if your grades are abysmal it's better than nothing.

For your own future, don't fucking quit, you will regret it in the long run.

Oh man you totally don't want to drop out.

I finished highschool and I can't find a job.

My friend has a masters in managing or accounting something like that, he had to have connections to work in a supermarket. Totally not worth it. If you don't have a diploma then you can't get anything, because sooner or later small jobs will be able to be done with machines. Also the younger generation is far more advanced, my niece is in second grade and she can already search the internet, download, and write reports on the computer. Imagine when she goes into the work force.

Don't drop out, at least finish high school before you decide what you are going to do with your life.

I've dropped out of college once, I found out it was a stupid I idea and went back the next semester, graduated with a 2 year degree, transfered, and I am about to graduate this semester with a 4 year degree. Even with my 2 year degree it was near impossible to get a job, so how do you think you are going to get a job to live on without a high school degree?

I don't know where the OP lives, but I know here in Indiana, if you are at least 16 and have parent's consent, you can drop out. You would be surprised by how many parents will allow their kids to drop out.

18 doesn't make any sense, unless the kid kept repeating grade levels. Because I was 18 when I was a Senior in high school and by that time, a person is so close they might as well tough it out until graduation. I know many people that were 17 when they graduated high school. I guess 18 would be a good new bar to set it at, because by that time the kid would already be close to or already graduated. If not, a kid that old and not near graduating, might as well give up if they can't hand the easy ride that is high school.
