It's a lot of fun, I think you would enjoy it especially with the new dungeon finder. I suggest trying to convert some friends to join you (unless they're converting you) and you'll have a blast.

If you're just starting, I'd say you make a warrior, pally, or druid. All of those have a tank spec which nowadays are fantastic for soloing and mean instant group ques (same with healing on the pally or druid, although it's not so great on the soloing). If you're looking for difficulties, I'd say the hardest to tank of those 3 would be the warrior, followed by the druid, then the pally. And the hardest to heal with would be the pally, then the druid.

As for professions you probably want to go with herbalism / mining so you can make a lot of money early on. If you've got some friends, try a crafting profession. Make sure you save your cloth and level up first aid as that is pretty much essential. If you start needing gold just go mine copper, it's really easy and can make some nice cash. Remember to use the auction house to your advantage.

As for resources, there's plenty of guides on the WoW forums however there's also www.elitistjerks.com (specifically the forums) if you want to know a lot of technical info about the game. That's generally for PvE.
I'm not going to lie, I am kind of prejudes to the hord. Did they patch it so that you dont have to have burning crusades to be blood elf because I know they are the only hord race that can be paladin.

Nope, you need BC to make a blood elf to the best of my knowledge. (I've never actually played without BC since it's been out. Same with Wrath)

About 4 years ago, my cousin bought world of warcraft and thought it was sex in game form. So I got it. I played for about a month before my old computor was dropped and broken while moving. I lost the box and softwhere so I would have to get it again. I dont remember getting really into it because I started playing with a real nut who automaticly thought a lvl 9 knew what the hell Dps tanking pvp was or something, it was too complicated. I while ago, someone made a thred about wow where people were talking about strategeis and stories of raids and junk. It sounded really cool.

I really want to get back into it but I just dont know.

So all the wow fans need to get technical and just tell me what the funnest possible option would be for starting. Whats the most well rounded build their is. Whats a bulid where I can just have fun, with or without other people.

So if you could make a build list for me, that would be great.

Or convince me to not do it. Or wait till catacalysm. I dont know all the details but to my knoladge, blizzard is "Starting over" and making evereything new. I read the wiki and the goblin sounds like a blast to play.

Wouldn't suggest it. I love that game with all my heart, but i hate what it does to my social life. I find myself running back to it with flailing arms every now and then, but i try to avoid playing it most of the time.

It's a great game and all that jazz, but you can get lost in it pretty damn easily.

Ideally, you'll pick a class and spec that isn't already over-saturated. This probably means playing as a healer or a tank.

I'd suggest either a healing Druid, Priest or Protection Warrior. They may take a while to get used to, but it'll be worth it in the endgame.

I didn't play Warhammer for very long, it wasn't my thing. Although it did have some excellent features that WoW promptly stole, like being able to q into a battleground from anywhere and PvP exp (although they had that via marks a looong time ago). The Warhammer version of PvP exp is a lot better though I'd say. Can't really comment much other then that.

Well if you do want to get into it again I would suggest starting now, that way you can have a high level or end game character by the time catacalysm comes out.

As far as a character goes prot warriors are very nice.

Otherwise be a paladin. paladins can do all three roles: tank, dps, heals. they also can wear plate and heal themselves making single player leveling really easy.

Its up to you in the end if you want to play, the game can be fun and a great way to pass free time. if you become addicted to it like a lot of people do then say good bye to your social life.

why would you have to get it again?

do you remember your username/email (or password)?

You can download the client, and use the forgot my password service.

don't have to buy it again, just have to log in, and update your subscription.

Random thought: If WoW is the kiddy pool of MMOs, wtf does that make games like Champions?
One of those plastic tub things for toddlers?

OT: WoW is fun, but since you mentioned warhammer:
I played that for a couple of months, it was fun. The only reason I stopped was because everyone I know was playing WoW and had no interest in trying other games. I got bored without RL friends to play the game with.
Even now I find myself wishing they'd at least give it a shot. I miss that game.

One of my most memorable MMO moments happened during my time there.
It was during a siege battle, I was on the defending side(Order was defending). I was playing a High Elf Swordmaster. Chaos managed to break through the outer defenses for the keep. So we fell back to the stairs to the boss' room. The order went out, all tanks crowd around the entrance and create a "living" wall. For the next while, I stood there alternating my defensive and attack abilities, while chaos rammed against the tank wall over and over. The healers did a fantastic job of keeping me alive. The DPS were able to destroy everyone who ventured to the front lines.
In the end, we won. I played but a small part in the battle(just a "brick" in the wall), but I left feeling epic.
That sounds unbeleivably epic. Screw warcraft, its warhammer for this guy!

i tried WoW twice, failed to hook me ether time, so i saw this thread an my first thought was " why would you want to ..." (my disliking of WoW has to do with the ppl i both ran into game, and the open chat i saw while planing, as well as for, imo, actually f***ing up the warrior class o_O)

that said i can can sugest Champions as well, XD if for no other reason then character flexibility and cambat that actually make killing off a cupple hundred enemys (and there are missions where you need to kill 150+ bad guys from a certain group) fun and less chore like then the standard MMO combat system WoW uses.

how ever to each there own, and if you've had any good player inter-actions (unlike me) then by all means, have another go at it

Yeah. Make a class that can heal otherwise you wont be leveling quick. I reccommend joining the realm Aman'thul
