Ok so i'm back with another computer crisis that I need help with...

So I went to install a game onto my desktop (WoW) and I discover that my hard drive has been crippled and is only left with 13.6 GB out of about 75 GB. I really wanna install this game (WoW) onto my computer, but I don't know how I can free up space. I've already gone through my desktop and picture folders, going mad with deleting fever...

What other ways are there to free up space...that don't require reformatting the drive or reinstalling windows...?

Registry files get pretty clogged up after a few years. You can download tools that clean up your registry files, then if you defrag it should free up a bit of space!

What program would you recommend for cleaning up said registry files...?

Try a disk defragmenter. That freed up around 5-7.GB on the laptop I'm typing this up on now.

Also delete programs you haven't used in over a month.

Get an external hard drive, or uninstall some programs that take up a lot of space and you don't use.

glary utilities will sort out all registry files and cookies and empty folders and anything unused.
http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html?tag=download

that kinda space though... do you have a lot of music or films?
burn any films to dvd or whatever and delete them from your harddrive to open up space.
glary also has a module telling you where your memory's going, so you'll know what's eating all your memory

[ modules > files and folders > disk analysis ]

uninstall games you don't play any more, or don't cheap out on a tiny hard drive, seriously. I mean I could probably get a 75GB hard drive for a tenner.

and shouldn't getting a job be a priority rather than playing WoW if you have no money?

I'd buy a external hard drive then.
http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=414&name=External-Hard-Drives Has some great hard drives at a cheap price. You can get an 75-80 gb one for a little more than $30. Mods, if this counts as advertising, remove the post please.

you might free up all the space that needed but because your hard drive is rigged with so many files the framrate will be horrible unless you put it down to its lowest level, and even then it still might be bad.

Well what OS are you running? If it is Vista then run Disc Cleanup and remove old System Restore Points.

I can't remember, whatever google recommends I guess, as long as its free!

I uninstalled my registry cleaner a while a go and I have no idea what it was! The free ones aren't very good compared to the payed ones but there aren't many other options for folks like us!

Also you should check out your Temporary Internet Files, Temp files and Application Data files. They often have a lot of stuff that can be easily identified as junk that you can delete (I think my Temp. Internet was up to 2gig at one stage) if you use Mozilla or Safari or something they generate their own Temp folder so its worth trying to track that down too

Edit: Thoroughly Ninja'd!

I think you should get a better computer; I've got about half a 465GB on my computer, I just don't think 75 is enough. Admirably I don't know a lot about computers but that's just my opinion.
