This election everyone has been so focused on Protobama and McPain (Names have been altered to make them sound more awesome.) that I have seen little to no coverage on the third party candidates. Who are the third party candidates what are their policies etc.

It doesn't matter, they won't get elected.

It does matter though. See the 2000 election with Nader's impact on Florida. It's highly likely that, had Nader not been running, Gore would have won the 2000 Presidential election and the world would be an entirely different shape today. Of course, I can talk in 'what ifs' til the cows come home. I'm just drawing your attention to the fact that third party candidates, while not having any chance of becoming President, do have knock on effects in that they take away votes that would go to ther candidates.

All I know about 3rd party is the Libertarian Party candidate, Bob Barr. As most libertarians, favors low / no taxes and minimal gov't.

No, it really doesn't matter. Ralph Nader didn't change the way Dems present their case, and Pat Buchanan didn't change the way the GOP does business. They just wasted an ASS TON of money.

The only power 3rd party candidates have is to fuck up a close election. Usually swinging the status quo against their initial platform.
