Same for me as for a lot of folks... came here for ZP, stayed for the forums. I'd long been searching for a nice place to hang out on the web, and since the Escapist has its fair share of interesting people and an overall standard of spelling, grammar and use of language that won't cause me to bleed from my eyes, I decided to set up shop here permanently.

I like it here. Most people just give a good response and aren't childish in the way that they just say stupid things and don't explain them. Haven't been here long, so, time will tell.

Rocked up for ZP, stayed for pretty much everything else.
Except the basement...

If anyone wishes for the basement to be removes, please, just send me a request, and a coupla hundred health potions.

Does anyone else think that in comparison to many others, this forum has some rare maturity when it comes to games, since being on here i have yet to come across a troll or a thread full of ps3 or 360 fanboys.

Trust me. We dwell underneath the water. We only march upon the lands when the time comes.

OT: This is the one and only forum I am comfortable with. The other ones I've visited are just... Meh.

See this. Basically the same as 90% of the site's users. I like the Bethesda forums too, since I'm a big Fallout fan and they're equally good, but a bit more limited in scope.

Kind of comes with the territory on game-specific forums. I was mostly active on the Dawn of War 2 forums before I came here, and I quickly found the broader scope of this place more appealing.

The rare overtly offensive or moronic post I see is always by a user put on probation.

OT: This is the only online forum I've joined (YouTube doesn't count), and yeah, I like it here. Unfortunately I already watched some of the shows that you get badges for watching before I made an account, meaning I had to watch them again if I wanted to get badges (Not the Escapist's fault of course, I'm just needy).

Well the good thing about these forums are that the majority of people are varied, mature but most importantly nice. It says alot about a forum when several users will leap to the defence of people who are suffering unfair persecution for their colour or creed with intelligent comebacks to the odd troll or two.

I have many a time wanted to post this very topic. It is so true, everyone (nearly) is well mannered (usually) and the forums are moderated properly without the mods being tyrants like other forums...

ahh... This place is nice...
