ArcheAge.

Unlike many on this site, I'm a fan of MMOs and while I could easily add Everquest Next on the list, ArcheAge is an entirely different beast on it's own, because the game is pretty much done and has already been released on China, Japan and Russia, but not on western territories yet.

Trion Worlds is already saying the game will come out to the west pretty soon, but they still haven't announced any date yet and I'm pretty much in the attitude of "This game STILL isn't out yet!???".

Definitely Edge of Twilight for me; officially it seemed to be cancelled when Fuzzyeyes (the developer) went under, but then they resurfaced, and now have released a mediocre mobile spinoff to it.

It was meant to come out last summer, but they've gone quiet again. Damn them, and damn my love for anything steampunk.

This week's Critical Intel article has some intel critical to this discussion. This only started happening recently, with the exponential growth of the media hype machines. The more games grow into multi-million dollar, several-year productions, the more they have to sell to recoup the investment, and the more money they pour into advertisement and merchandising, which balloons the development costs even more, and now we have this massive, bloated system that is continually expanding even as it collapses under its own weight, and the only way to keep the scheme going is to make us so rabidly excited for their product that we get these 15-month periods of obnoxious marketing, full of exaggerations and assumptions that we are all ready to wet our pants over their revolutionary game.

I really hope the AAA bubble bursts soon. Otherwise, we will just limp along this annoying path forever, until the consumer pool has become so poisoned by the constant ups and downs of development cycles that the industry can't ever make us happy again.

What? I wasn't going to say Half-Life 3... I was actually going to say Kingdom Hearts 3... (Yeah, that's it...)

OT: But seriously, Kingdom Hearts 3 is right up there with my very small list of games that I wish were out already...

(Honorable mention going towards the new Fighting is Magic, of course...)

Oh Wii U...I wish more people liked you like I like you...Oh Gamefreak, I wish you would make one Pokemon game where I could actually catch em' all...I don't even need all of the event Legendaries...Oh, if only these two problems could be solved. Perhaps the solution to one would be the solution to both problems? Oh but there I go, on another flight of fancy...

Also, with the remake culture being a thing this gen apparently, I'm surprised Bethesda haven't announced a remake of Daggerfall or Arena...I would think Daggerfall would be more likely than Arena though to be honest...

Final Fantasy XV.
People still believe that games coming out? Hasn't it being announced in 2006, being made as a lanch title for PS3, pushed back to being a PS3 title, pushed back to being a PS4 launch title, pushed back to PS4 title...

Sadly, Nomura said he won't start developing Kingdom Hearts III until FFXV is finished, so essentially, Kingdom Hearts is over...

OT: Devil Survivor 2: Break Record, supposed to be out in Japan Spring last year, pushed back to Fall, pushed back to Winter, pushed back to 2014, with no new news about it.

What is happening?
No KH isn't over, you can still have endless crappy spinoffs on handhelds.

For me it's Rainbow Six: Patriots. I remember seeing stuff on it like four or five years ago and the damn thing still isn't out.

Oh yeah I remember that one 'prototype video' of the game looked really good. They were pretty much trying to hype the game and then it just disappeared never to be heard from again. Shame b/c Rainbow Six Vegas was awesome and this one actually looked a lot better still.

Fuck Destiny, I want my Last Guardian! I've been waiting to hear something about that game. I don't care if they're crafting the game using pixie dust and unicorn farts because I want info, dammit!

I just want to know how hard I will cry at the end! D:
Oh my god, they announced that so long ago that I've been able to get excited, forget about it, and get excited again when someone mentions it. I can't wait for this one either.

One thing I really, really want, but probably will never happen is to have them remake legend of dragoon. I'd pay $60 bucks just to see that game with shiny new graphics.

I don't know about you, but I have a mild panic attack every time I see it mentioned in a news article. I get ready to have a cry because I always fear the worst, and that I'm going to hear that it's canceled.

I don't know how much my poor little heart can take with all this waiting! D:

Prey 2 for me...that E3 demo was really fantastic (it even looked next gen!) and they didn't let Human Head finish it which makes me very sad. That game is probably stuck in development limbo/hell.

Other than that, can't think of any really that have been announced and they haven't released yet aside from the obvious Half Life 3. Most of the games that I'm looking forward to are around 1 year give or take close of releasing: Witcher 3, Torment, Cyberpunk (probably 2016 this one).

Final Fantasy XV.

It was announced in 2006. At the start of the 7th generation. 8 years on and a whole new generation later and we still have no release date.

What the fuck Square Enix?
Whoa, whoa, whoa man. Calm down. Nomura recently released information. He said it JUST entered full production. After eight years. It JUST entered full production...

Well there's that game I bought my Ps3 for two years ago. Oh Last Guardian. The moral of this story being wait until a game comes out before you buy a console so you can play it

Please, I am nothing but silly. :p

In all seriousness, I'm a huge fan of SotC and Ico, so having those people make another game is just plain awesome. Even if they're taking their sweet time about it. >.>

A million times this. I was really looking forward to this game, read the reviews, earmarked it as a purchase and then...waiting...waiting...waiting...waiting...

Guess what? Yup! Still waiting. The thing is I've waited so long I don't think I'm going to buy it now just out of principle.
My biggest problem with all this is that an EU release was promised. Not only promised but it was explicit "later this year" with this refering to 2013. We are nearly half through 2014 and still not a bloody thing to hear about it.

I'm not experienced with Atlus release practices. I heard that this company produces quality games, too bad I won't play them since it seems like they don't care for the particular part of the world I live in.
You know you guys can just import the US version (or Japanese if you speak Japanese). 3DS doesn't have any region locks and it might even be cheaper than a domestic release because of the exchange rate (Games tend to be a bit cheaper in the US). An import company like Play-Asia will ship US or JPN games anywhere. That's where I get my Japan-market games from.
