This is a question I've wondered since wednesday morning when I say Yahtzee's critique of Amnesia: The Dark Decent. It was a game I had intended on getting/playing anyway, but then I heard a rumor that the developers in the company in question were struggling, and went so far as to shave their pay in half just to finish the game, and get the game out the door. Truly a painful sacrafice in this economy.
That rumor coupled with the indy game, and my having never heard of it until someone brought it up in the comments section of Extra Credits discussion of Survival Horror got me thinking; will Amnesia prosper because a net celeb like Yahtzee put it in the spotlight? Did anyone even know about it? Aside from it being in the BACK of the featured slideshow on steam, I haven't seen any publicity for the game.
So I ask you, will you purchase/play Amnesia now after Yahtzee has featured it? Will the game designers hard work and pay cuts pay off in their favor?
