Our town's Lan center featured tourney called "combo breaker". A fighting game tourney with brawl, ssf4, T6, BBCS. They have had problems getting people to attend so they gave a tantalizing offer: if you compete you get a free month of game time ($220 value). I brought my friend and we competed. They needed at least 8 for brawl to have standard brackets, only six showed so they did round robin.
I think the lack of attendance was due to brawl being a "middle schooler" community game. One of the players who attends the tourney said most of the people couldn't come because they couldn't get rides... *facepalm*
Yeah something is wrong when you give away a month of game time and this Lan center can't even get good attendance on a tourney.
Oh well I'm going back today with my friend to make the most of my game time.
