Lets see if we can get a fun, imaginative rolling thread going here. Anything goes, but I'm aiming for gaming/geek cultures things, movies, TV shows, games, etc...

Rules are simple.
1. What is it?
2. Should it be a thing?
Yes

I'll start:
Karl Urban as Dash Rendar in a Shadows of the Empire movie. This should be a thing.

An HBO Warhammer miniseries centered on a Deathwatch Kill-Team as they come to terms with one another and their new shadowy masters. This should be a thing.

Official release of Shadow of the Colossus on PC, with a mod that lets you play as a Jaeger against the bosses. This should be a thing.

A Silent Hill game set at the Western Front of World War 1. You play as a junior officer in the British Army who did a bad thing(it was WW1 after all) Imagine the images and enemies you could get from that!
This should be a thing.

I see that as a pachinko machine.

Isn't pachinko just a gambling pinball machine? 'cause I don't know how you'd tell a story on a pinball machine.
It'll actually cause the hell of Silent Hill to be real for you

1. Spend all your money on the game
2. Go into debt
3. Turn to alcohol/drugs
4. Do a bad
5. Repent in a town covered in fog

Number 5 might be the hardest but there's still plenty of potential

But Silent Hill is supposed to be all in your mind. Its basically PTSD with literal monsters instead of figurative ones.
It'd make more sense if after every ball is lost the machine shoots you in the face with LSD mist and plays 2mins of Schindler's List.
That way at about the hour mark, you're sweating balls, paranoid as fuck, and desperate to save just one more life by not failing at the game.
So even if you win, you spend a shit-load of money.

Flashdarks. It's like a flash-light, only it makes darkness. Brought the idea up with some friends with all the cool applications it could be used for, but like chumps they all thought about the long list of 'practical' applications for something like that instead of the awesome ones.

Other then that: a live action television series of Psych Pass. It was made specifically in a way that would allow for a live action adaptation, though it would probably have to rely heavily on TV CG due to the concept, and it would also likely need to be relocated given studios being studios, and the only logical places for the setting to relocate to and work is the UK or Australia.

Being able to pay part cash and part by card in stores.

I usually do groceries once every 4-5 days so I end up spending £25+ at a time in a supermarket.
Today, I bought stuff for over £30 and I only had £30 on my main account, as well as an extra £20 in my pocket.
When I was at the register, I had to split my groceries and buy part of it with my card and part with cash.
That's stupid.
It's the 21st century, we should be able to do mixed payments.

You seen Deathwatch?

Not the exact thing, but a similar concept.

Something I didn't realize until today reading a post on R&P:

The new domestic sport of Indirect Fire Support [sup](Now available on all good Cable Packages!)[/sup], which incidentally requires mortars and light artillery pieces.
This should be a thing. Much better than cornhole or horseshoes.

Nude pinball should be a thing at my local bus station; it's boring as hell there. All it is is people getting on and off buses all day, Jesus Christ.

Also, being able to pay in blood packs.

You can't do that? When I used to work for Home Hardware (Canadian hardware store chain) we were able to do that for customers.

The perfect Sex-Ed video... that doubles as the perfect porn video...

Other than that, another live-action Hulk movie that's so good, it's becomes an automatic double-feature to any MCU movie that comes out after it...

Goat-car-surf-surfing. You surf on a goat, that's surfing on a car, that's surfing on a surfboard. It will only be the most extreme thing ever done by anyone.

PC Bangs except where I live. In Korea, they have these places called PC Bangs, which basically means PC Room and you can hang out for about a dollar an hour to play any game you want on the computer. This is how people play League of Legends and other MMOs and what not.

Why the hell isn't this a bigger thing in other countries? It'd be a great way for people who don't have a lot of money to be able to keep up with games or just hangout in a cool place and relax while playing video games. I don't think the variety in games was very big besides MMOs, but why not have single player games you can play for a bit?

During my trip to Korea, I experienced a couple of these amazing places and it was one of the best damn things ever. So, I wish this was something bigger in other countries or at least where I live.

We had a couple in the city where I live, but they charged significantly more than a dollar an hour, engaged in questionable business practices, and were just not very experienced in the business world. And so they closed down. People are trying to start up another and I suppose at some point we'll get one that won't burn down, fall over, and sink into the swamp. And if my town in the middle of the Midwest US is getting one... they can't be too far away from anyone.

As far as the OP, I want my Fallout style fps/rpg game based on Pinnacle Games "Deadlands." The best ever pen and paper rpg getting a Fallout style video game... this should be a thing. Alternatively a videogame (or several) based on Palladium games settings like Rifts, Beyond the Supernatural, and Nightbane. They'd work well as isometrics.

Take the old Rampage games, reboot them in 3d with a modern physics engine a la red faction Guerrilla, smash buildings fight tanks etc. I don't need to explain why that would be awesome.

Base some sort of RTS inside of a Minecraft style voxel engine procedurally generate levels and allow terrain deformation as part of the strategy, make all of the units robots to excuse some of the dumb things they will do. Make one of the units a giant drill sort of like that machine in the introduction to Oblivion and make all of the base buildings out of voxels and give them indoor areas.

Somebody needs to take the original Privateer and remake it with more stuff but with the same readable and somewhat intuitive game-play and UI. I know the X games exist but the last time I tried to figure out how to play those the only guide I could find amounted to fanfiction for a fiction I wasn't at all attached to in second person labeled as a """guide""". Also the starting ship in Privateer was serviceable, it was a jack of all trades but overall it wasn't a piece of crap, whereas in the X games the first thing they do is basically tell you "go find this abandoned ship in this system because your starting ship is garbage."

Take a company like Obsidian set them down in front of a list of "typical rpg classes" such as "warrior" and "rogue" and tell them "these are overused, boring, and uncreative, your job should you choose to accept it is to create a game with RPG classes that play nothing like these."

Not related in anything necessarily nerdy but... there should be a 'sour milk' indicator strip on milk cartons. Somehow, someone should figure out a way to have something that indicates the odor inside has changed from nothing noteworthy to rank and sour.

It doesn't matter if it is well within the best before date, I've learned to be suspicious of all milk containers. <_<

A crossover widget fighting game, a.k.a. a fighting game made up entirely of the weirdest things to come from Japan.

We'd have the guys from Cho Aniki, King Katamari... actually, I think Mugen has that covered already. Never mind.
