I noticed today, when I was gazing upon my magnificent form in the mirror, that the skin just beneath my left eye started to tremble slightly for a few seconds. I've been feeling the sensation for about a week now, but I didn't realise what was actually taking place. It happens randomly every couple of hours or so, which no apparent provocation.

Should I worry?

If it's what I think you're talking about I get that sometimes and so do several of my friends... so I wouldn't worry about it.

It seems to affect the area around the eyes for longer periods, though I've felt it over my arms, back and legs before.

Sounds to me like a little eye twitch. Just go and see an optician rather than asking gamers, you'll be lucky if the right member reads this and gives actual medical advice.

I've had those before. They pass, or at least for me. Muscle spasms can be caused by any number of things, but I really can't tell you more. Not my area of expertise.

It looks like you came to the right place to get a medical questions answered.

Seriously, anything we say besides "ask someone who'd actually know" is gonna be worthless.

Oh I don't know, among a forum of gamers there are sure to be a few of us that have eye strain. Mabey this isn't the best place for medical advice, but for asking if anyone else has had this particular problem I'd say this is actually a fairly good place.

As for the twitching eye, I've had that sensation before myself, but it's never lasted a week before (the twitches I mean in general, one spasm lasting a week is definatly wrong!). Yes it's normal for people to have it, but it it's a symptom that's suddenly occored it can't hurt to call for a medic see a doctor.

Muscle spasms can be caused by several things. I get them if I haven't had enough sleep.
If you haven't been resting enough, try getting some decent sleep for a few days, and see if it goes away.
(I'm not a medical person, so this is just my experience ¬¬)

I'm guessing it's this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasciculation
Nothing to worry about.

It's not good because while we may have experienced something with a similar symptom, the underlying problem could be entirely different, and if we put his mind at ease about something that's actually a problem, that's bad.
