The only games it has that I would want to play or that I don't have on other systems are Persona 3 and 4 and I'd rather buy a Playstation 2 to play those than get a Vita.
I just want to point out the differences from Persona 4 and Golden.

Don't get me wrong when I eventually get a vita I will pick up P4G but it just isn't a system seller for me :p

Persona 4 Golden, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, Silent Hill Book of Memories, Assassin's Creed, Zero Escape, Uncharted, and these are just the really good Vita exclusives, there's a huge amount of really good ports, not to mention being able to play the regular PSP games with a good control scheme since the system lets you assign the second stick, at least now when I'm playing any 1st/3rd person game I have good camera control.
I couldnt care less about the Assassin's creed or Uncharted franchises. They just dont interest me at all anymore. Zero escape is another one Im not to interested in, I usually dont enjoy the visual novel style. Gravity Rush is one that flew beneath my radar so Ill at least check that out

The issue with all the ports on the vita is, I already own most of the games I would want on PC. I tend to use my Vita when Im taking a long trip or otherwise going to be uninterupted and want to relax. So if I get on a plane, take a train, or if Im going for a long drive with someone Ill pull out my Vita (although now that I have a Razer edge I might be packing that instead). When Im at home I pretty much only use my PC unless theres an exclusive I really want to play on it or a console

That said, I still think the Vita has a major drought of great games.
It seems less that their is less great games but less games that interest YOU. Just because YOU don't care for some of them doesn't mean it universally has less games.

I personally love my Vita. There isn't a huge number of worthwhile games on it yet, but more are coming out all the time (Muramasa Rebirth coming soon, and I can't wait). I've been playing Soul Sacrifice pretty much nonstop lately, in fact.
I can see why so many people are turned off by the price tag, and I really hope they drop the price soon. I want this lovely machine to succeed.

The Vita does really need more games, and take up a bigger share of the handheld market. Cause Atlus releasing their SMT games on the 3DS is not working for me. Seriously, the 3DS is not a device built to be held comfortably by a grown man. Contrast that with the Vita, it's nice and rounded, and intuitive to hold. The Vita has potential, but it needs more support and more reasonable prices for the memory cards/sticks/whatever.

Eh. I could care less about graphics. I think I am immune to 3D headaches as I have had mine since release. I love it, and some of the graphics on some of the games are amazing. Kingdom Hearts 3D, MGS 3D, Resident Evil Revelations. All had excellent graphics. Most games go for a more stylized approach and I don't mind that.

Also, I suggest (if you can), give the 3DS XL a try. Personally, I found it to be FAR superior.
The 3DS is quite enjoyable. I actually keep the 3D off unless I need it. The 3D doesn't add much in most cases and the system is perfectly competent without it.

So what spawned THIS pushback? I don't recall any major Vita hate for... months, at least.
Usually, hypersensitivity.

In the last five or so threads I've read, four have had people who seem to take something broad and vague as specific and personal. There has been come valid criticism of the Vita on this site, and the OP is such I can't help but think it came from those. The poster is practically saying "I DON'T expect a handheld to sell well!"

I have a Vita and I fucking love it. Yeah, I'd prefer it to have more games, better ones. I look forward to the Batman one, though.

But, thanks to the added PS1 games and the PSP ones I still have reasons to play it. Heck, I've played some PS1 games that I've never played before, mostly MGS and Silent Hill, and now those are two of my favourite franchises. So there's plenty to do if you don't own a PS1 anymore. Plus there are very good games, still. Gravity Rush is great, plus there's Jet Set Radio.

We think the Vita is going to fail because we have pattern recognition skills.
Sony does not work well in the handheld market.

Yeah, I think it's more of an indifference train. I sometimes forget the Vita even exists. I might like one for Disgaea and Persona... but it doesn't seem worth it for portable versions of games I already have.
I'm definitely with you on this one. I forget it exists more often than not, and I work in a game shop. I never sell the systems or any of the games. I never even get asked about them. They sit and collect dust.

I don't hate it I just have a 3DS and I can't afford to have both. Like many have pointed out in the thread the 3DS has a pretty good release list so I'm happy for the moment with my choice of handheld.

Also

Animal Crossing: New Leaf soon :3 squee.

Its not hate its disappointment. All of the Vitas issues have been an exact replay of the PSPs problems.

Was finally going to pick one up last month when I head all the oddworld games are being released for it after a long time uming and ahing. But I think I will wait till after E3 just in case Sony come to this senses and release one with some built in memory.

Zero Escape isn't exclusive.

I think what people mean by "no great games" is "there aren't any games that warrant the price, for me." Which is the case for myself. Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice look good, but I have Persona and Zero Escape on other systems and the rest of those games don't interest me.

I don't want it to fail, I just don't want one. Until it hits a price point I find reasonable or gets enough games I want to justify it's price I'm not going to buy one. I believe that this is the attitude of a lot of people.
Sorry, it's also on 3DS, you're right, and that's not a bad attitude to have, I made that reply because he was just wrong in saying it has no games when it has a massive amount of PS1 and psp games from the PSN store (he wasn't looking at just exclusives).

I've enjoyed my vita so far. My wife bought it for me as a birthday present using her shoppers points so she really only had to pay the tax lol.

P4G and Soul Sacrifice are great games and as a plus subscriber I have a long list of free games that I can play and catch up on. Games like uncharted, gravity rush, disgaea 3 to name a few I grabbed off the store.

Why is it that everyone thinks the Vita is going to fail?
You might want to check your definitions here. Thinking something is going to fail is not the same as hating something.

Interesting seeing you butt-hurt, because when it comes to the Wii U or Nintendo you are on the oposite side of the spectrum.
Nice observation from my part isn't it? :D
OK, now that is pure brilliance in your post right there.

OT: The problem with the Vita is that there aren't enough original games that I am interested in. Sure, I would like to get a crack at Persona 4 and I really like the tech and the design. I think there's a lot of potential in the Vita, but I find it disturbing that the only time I noticed Vita being mentioned on Sony's E3 presentation last year was when they presented games that were for other systems too. I didn't pay that much attention, but I feel like Sony isn't putting enough effort into making the Vita successful.

I also don't like the memory card prices. I have a 3DS with a 32 GB memory card, if I want the same for a PS Vita I have to pay more than 3 times the price of that SD card.

WipeOut 2048 Good game, but only for fans of futuristic racers

Jet Set Radio Available on pretty much every other platform
Street Fighter X Tekken (hopefully they'll put Tekken X Street Fighter on the Vita as well) Available on every other platform

And that's simply named off of the top of my very hungover head

Currently in production:
Lone Survivor Available on every other platform
Stealth Bastard Available on PC and PS3
Spelunky Available on Pc and 360
Killzone Mercenary
Tearaway
The majority of those titles are multiplatform games already available or soon-to-be released on platforms people already own. That's not how you tempt people to buy your $250 handheld. When you're trying to get people to stump up that sort of cash, you need to give them every last reason you can think of to pick it up. Marketing on the fact it can play many of your PS3 games is not the way to go about it. The Vita doesn't just need a couple of exclusives, it needs enough exclusives to validate its existence as a console in its own right, not just as an add-on to whatever console Sony is currently marketing.

I agree that the hate is very misplaced, the 3DS deserves it more for being closed off and being a carrier for the continued Nintendo copy-pasting and for their STUPID business methods (3DS XL without a charger? Fucking 'tards)
Seriously? Nintendo are putting out exclusives every month until next year, have seen sales skyrocket as a result, and you think they're the ones in trouble?

The internet can be such a weird place sometimes...
'Handheld iteration of a console game' is surely a point in its favour because it is capabale of producing the same experiences as its console counterpart. Same as with a game on it being multiplatform, especially with the quality of the game in comparison to other platforms (seriously, Sonic All Stars Transformed? Lighting and textures are the only things of a lower quality, and the lighting gives it a look more suited to a cartoony kart racer, but I digress).

Also, 'good game, but only for fans of futuristic racers', seriously? You can argue better than that.

And nowhere did I say that the 3DS was failing, I just said that what Nintendo get away with is ridiculous, especially with how retarded it can be.

So...yesterday I bought a PS Vita.. yes I'm still annoyed by the price of memory cards but the amount of games that are coming out on it recently persuaded me. Plus it's good to play on the bus. :)

Well, I don't honestly see anyone getting vicious about the vita, but it's undeniable fact that it isn't doing well.

Almost everyone who I know that's bought one says it's a very nice piece of kit with lots of potential, but at the moment, that potential simply isn't being used. I don't really know anyone who doesn't WANT to see that potential used, a little competition, not to mention a more "hardcore" choice for handhelds would be very welcome.

I'd say there's less hate for the vita and more for sony's mishandling of it.

I don't think anyone really hates it, and I would think most would prefer just to see it improve, rather than actually fail, since it was never bad to begin with, simply too expensive with too little amounts of good exclusives to justify said price. That's where most of the criticism lies, and most people know that can change, so they are less likely to want to watch it burn and more likely to want to see a revamp.

I feel this community really only hates on the products that are beyond repair or beyond any amount of fucks given by this community, or plenty of other things for arbitrary reasons, but the Vita surprisingly isn't one of them.

People don't buy handhelds to play console games. People buy handhelds to play handheld games. If they wanted to play a PS3 or 360 game, they'd sit down on their coach and play their PS3 and 360 games on their big TV with surround sound speakers.

People don't want to play those sorts of games on a portable system. They want to play games that work in 5 minute short bursts. When they're on the bus, say, or waiting for an appointment at the doctors, or sitting at the train station. Games like Pokemon and Professor Layton are designed around that handheld quick-burst philosophy, hence why they sell millions and move handheld units. Games like Uncharted, Resistance and Killzone are meant to be played in hour long sessions or more, when you can get invested in the campaign or multiplayer. Hence why those games haven't shifted Vita units.
Not the reason why I bought my Vita. I bought my clearly for console-experiences on the go. Stop trying to put all mobile players in one group.

Face the fact that THERE IS a demographic of people who want Console experiences on the go. Not everyone wants tiny bits, they want the full thing. Sometimes its nice to be able to play them without having to log around an entire console and possibly monitor to play on the go.

Sometimes you don't want to be on your laptop either, you want to play the same games but on your bed, in your car (obviously if someone else is driving), and various other places.

Jeffers, I think my main problem with you is that you assume that your opinion is akin to Word of God (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WordOfGod), and that everything you say is above others and true.

The reason the Vita hasn't shifted as many units as the 3DS is because of Price of the system it's self and memory cards. If the Vita sold for $100 for it's Non-3G version and $150 for it's 3G version (or even $125), and the memory cards went down in price, it WOULD shift more units?

More then the 3DS? No, Nintendo will always sell more in the handled market. But the Vita ISN'T not selling as well because of the lack of more "Mobile" games.

Anyone else getting the Limited Edition of Muramasa Rebirth? I know it's off topic, but the vita face cover looks gorgeous.
