This years biggest dissapointment?

Looking to get an idea of what everyone believes to be this years most disappointing title?

Just to clarify, a disappointing game isn't exactly a BAD game. It may well be a very good game. A disappointing game (to me) is a game that you got very excited for, for whatever reason, but after playing it you were left underwhelmed.

Personally, L.A. Noire takes the cake this year. I was very excited to see how a detective game would play out, and how they would make use of the very advanced technology for facial expressions. I was disappointed with the game as a whole. The faces, while great, were never a challenge to figure out, the game became very repetitive, and the ending was just awful IMO. This game could have been so much more, but for me, fell short.

So what do you guys think? Which game left you most disappointed this year?

I try to do enough looking into a game before I buy it so that I don't have any major disappointments. I'm perfectly content with every game I've purchased this year.

MW3, personally. I've always enjoyed the CoD series, but if I'm being realistic, I've been enjoying the same game re-released with new guns and maps since CoD4. I really expected something new in MW3 to merit a 60$ purchase, and all I got was some change ups with kill streaks and another survival mode that we've seen in WaW and Black Ops, aside from the fact that the enemies now have firearms.

Returned it after a couple days and picked up BF3. Much happier with my results, aside from funding EA.

Honestly, MY biggest disappointment was Shadows of the Damned.

The game was good. Not great, but good. It was full of foul humor and ridiculous grindhouse themes, and I love that kind of stuff when done well. And it was.

However, it should have been done PHENOMENALLY. Look at the team behind this game. It should have taken the world by storm. Or at least, my world. I played it once and I don't feel compelled to play it again.

Uncharted 3 - Solid game, but completely fails to live up to the perfect 10 hype it had going in. 8/10 title at best a recommended purchase but a disappointment due to the expectations surrounding it.

I'd imagine most people will say Dragon Age 2 considering how much hate there is for that game.

Probably DXHR.

The game was brilliant, had almost everything I could of asked for.

The only reason I say it was my biggest disappointment of the year is because Deus Ex is probably my favourite game of all time. Still to this day I give it a playthrough every year or so, outdated graphics and shooting mechanics be damned!

Subconsciously, I wanted Human Revolution to lift (or at least equal) that bar set by the original, even though that's probably an impossible feat.

I thoroughly enjoyed DXHR, and it will definitely be up there as one of my favourite games of this year, definitely has the replay value that will keep me coming back for more, but because it didn't reach the dizzying heights set by the original, i'd have to chalk it up as a very small disappointment.

Battlefield 3 gets my vote. The trailers made it look like the single player campaign was going to be awesome. That sniper trailer from way back really had me excited, as did the take demo. All the talk about the single player had me going, "Great. I'll beat that just in time for Modern Warfare 3." My mistake.

Dead Space 2. Finally got my hand on it in October, played through it once and suffered major apathy towards it afterward. To compare, I played through Dead Space 1 around about half a dozen times. Go figure. Don't know why, but DS2 just wasn't as compelling a game as the first one. Not to say it's bad, it isn't, but I think the lack of anything really new in DS2 is what made it "meh" imo. I'll probably go back to it at some point though.

EDIT:

This also. After memories of much lolz being had in BF2, I was excited for BF3. Played beta, was not impressed.

OF WHAT I PLAYED:

Portal 2.

I never played the Co-op, but the Single player was... trying, at best. 90% of the game's humor was "OMG Aren't I so funny? Aren't I? AREN'T I?! LAUGH DAMN YOU" I loved the first game but... eurgh..

Overall I'd say it was Brink. I haven't played it but I was pretty psyched and I know a lot of other people were too, and it seemed like a downer.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution for me. It wasn't bad, but it got a lot of credit for the amount of "player choice" it allowed which ultimately boiled down to "kill the gaurds or sneak in the fire escape". Even Invisible War had some interesting story branches, this one was almost completely linear. The big decision at the end was too little, too late.

Skyrim, hurr hurr.

Kidding. Mostly. Although I have already got sick of it.

But the prize would have to go to Brink or Dead Island. Dishonorable mention goes to Duke Nukem Forever, which was terrible but not necessarily disappointing since I had a vague idea what I was letting myself in for.

I reckon most people knew what they were getting themselves into, but still had some hope.

As for Brink, how that ever was going to evolve FPS i do not know.

None. I only really expected 2 games this year. Portal 2 (Co-op was awesome) and Blackwell Deception. Both delivered superbly.
