Haha jokes, I like jokes, but seriously, these aren't funny. In fact, most of them are just plain stupid!

False advertising here.

Something I watched last year made me laugh: "Jesus died for our sins, SO LETS MAKE THEM GOOD ONES!"

That vase joke was so riduculously hilarious.

I do not think the top joke deserved the spot though. I prefer number 6. Hedgehogs just aren`t that funny...

How do you not find these funny? 8 and 10 aren't, particularly, but the rest of the numbered ones are!

I feel like if I were more British, I'd have gotten more of those jokes - as it is, the ones referencing people were lost on me.

Also, they weren't terribly funny.
I belive there is a possibility that the funny was lost in translation.

Oh wait...

I believe you could change the title from "Funniest jokes of the year" to "Proof that foreigners are right about English humor" and it really wouldn't make a difference.
Nope its not funny to me either and I'm English, maybe its a northerner thing, there a bit strange up there.

I think they were bad examples of English humour. We have some very funny comedians, e.g Jimmy Carr, Sean Locke, Michael Macintyre, Johnny Vegas, Franky Boyle and Rufus Hound. All British people should agree with me that all of these people are funnier than everybody else on that list.

Adam hills is a brilliant comedian.

I think BBC's sense of humor is fairly equivalent to Hitler's sense of compassion for Jewish people.

Now thats the joke of the year..!!

It's not the best article. Stand-up comedians often lead to their jokes, even one-liners often have some sort of context. My guess is these jokes were a lot funnier if you were there in the audience.

Oh, and to those making cracks about English humour? Edinburgh's in Scotland and comedians flock from all parts of Britain and the world to take part.
Just thought it needed saying.

I liked this one:

2) Paddy Lennox - "I was watching the London Marathon and saw one runner dressed as a chicken and another runner dressed as an egg. I thought: 'This could be interesting'."

Rest were not very good, me thinks.
I did to actually. I thought it was really funny, but I tend to visualize jokes, and to me a person in a chicken suit and a egg suit is some funny sh*t.

I didn't really care about the others though. They were "Schmeh".

here is a good joke
Three couples wanted to join the baptist church, and old couple, a middle age couple, and a newly wed couple. The priest said they had to abstain from sex for a 2 weeks before they could join the church.

After 2 weeks, the couples came back. the priest first asked the old couple if they abstained from sex. "Not a problem", they said.

Then he asked the middle aged couple. "The 1st week was ok. The 2nd week was hard, but we made it."

Lastly, he asked the newly wed couple. "No, we did not abstain from sex. When my wife bent down to pick up a light bulb, i couldnt help myself, and we had sex right there on the floor".
"Im sorry", said the priest."You are not welcome to the church".
"Thats ok", said the couple, "were not allowed at the grocery store either".

Yes. These are a terrible regresentation of our humor.
I would put some of Frankie's stuff up, but the copyright restrictions only allow the UK to view them.

Let's just say that I have differing views from the BBC when it comes to what constitutes "funny".
I do as well. But <spoiler=this>"Michael Jackson only invented the moonwalk so he could sneak up on children." gave me a chuckle.

How did you not mention Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran...?

Also, number 5 was easily the best.
