Picked up the game about 2 hours ago, and have just came off (i would be on longer but i have a party to go to... damn friend and his 20th) but already i am hooked! The combat is fluid, the stealth works extremely well, and is a viable option instead of being useless. I think i have managed to infiltrate about 3 camps, and been able to kill a few guys, and disable the alarm systems before i am detected.

The crafting system is a little tedious, but then, what crafting system isn't? To be honest it's probably one of the better ones, you usually only need one or 2 items to craft something with. The A.I is average, but better than most A.I in other games. Sometimes they are challenging, sometimes they are stupid, but much better than other instalments.

The Characters are fantastic, creepy, scary, but good at the same time. Unlike most games, i actually feel sorry for Jason when his friends get killed. The Graphics are amazing! Getting on top of a hill and just viewing the scenery is just awesome...especially when using the Camera or Sniper Rifle. also the detail in the character faces and ecosystem is incredible, also the cut scenes are awesome as well, i could easily watch them for hours if it were possible.

So...Good Characterization, graphics, A.I, (i would say story, but i haven't got that far into the game, so far it's excellent, but it could flop at any moment) all in all, i am dead happy with my purchase, and will easily be playing this game for months. How about you guys?

Yeah I'm loving it too, only got to play a little bit last night as I'm in work at the moment :(
Have had a few problems like gameplay freezing in the first Ryakut trial which seems to be happening to alot of people also the vsync kills performance which shouldn't be happening on my rig.

Minus the tech problems the game is alot of fun and I can see playing this for quite a while haven't tried the multiplayer yet as I like to leave that for after I have finished the singleplayer.
Vass is an excellent character as well, he actually seems psychotic unlike alot of bad guys in games.

Things I wish they added though would have to be a mod toolkit as this game could of had some crazy mods. Will have to worn people though that alot of people are having tech problems with the game, mine have only been minor but others have reported constant crashing on rigs that destroy the spec requirements.

I'm really loving it. I've cleared the first island, at the moment I'm just killing time doing the side stuff until I want to head over to the second island. The thing is, most of the major faults I can find about the game are ones that tend to be inherent to open world games anyway. I'm enjoying it more than I have any of the Rockstar sandbox games I've played. They also put a lot of effort into the story, which I appreciate, I like the story of Jason and his descent into madness.

I'm loving it. Have to say they really picked it up since Far Cry 2, which I found rather tedious. The story, the island history (natives, WWII etc.) all really make it difficult for me to put down. Seems to me like a good contender for GOTY in my book, and I was so sure that that was going to belong to the mild let-down that is the new Hitman too.

A few things puzzle me though, how do I look at photos I took with the camera? When the camera lens grid changes colour and makes a weird noise, what does that mean?

All in all though, a great open world FPS, with only very minor niggles (simplistic AI, all bog-standard enemies seem to love Kalashnikovs, some pretty bad texture pop-ins [Xbox 360])

Already regretting my purchase.

Dull weapons, dull enemies. A shooter that can't get those things right doesn't have much to offer.

Some of the characters are fun though. Sadly, Vaas ranting only constitutes 0.3% of the game.

Hmmm, not had the bad texture pop-ins and i'm on 360, come to think of it, i haven't seen a bug or glitch in my 2 hour play through, but then again it was 2 hours and it is a huge game, will have to wait and see.

And i thought the A.I were decent enough, not perfect but they are just simple enemies, they probably get smarter as you progress to the next island.

That was one of my problems with Far Cry 2. The Jackal was the col. fucking kurtz of the game and the game barely uses him. It's like he doesn't even exist.

I only noticed the texture pop-in when approaching the Medusa from the north by sea, where it looked like it was made of Lego for a good 10 seconds, then I noticed it in a few other places but to a much less significant degree.

I haven't seen much improvement in the AI, but like I said, these are such minor niggles that they have little bearing on how much I'm enjoying the game.

Well, just from the opening sequence I can tell Vaas is going to be carrying the game SO FREAKING HARD.

And also, I swear that they've done something weird with the camera... it makes me nauseous when playing.

Well it's mostly FC2 with added extras and more polished, so if FC2 was something you liked then this is more of the same and even better.

Sadly it seems the teams for story, gameplay and UI never once sat down to talk during development.
Because the story was actually shaping up to be something memorable until you pick up a weapon... and the gameplay guys just made you Infallible Soldier #783 from that point on, so all attempts at survival/tension/gearing up to fight the big bad were immediately butchered.
And then the UI guys apparently got the impression they are contracted for Mario Kart, I haven't seen stuff done so basic and childish anywhere else.

Some people have difficulties with certain Fields of View (FOV) angles. Try looking if you can adjust this in the options menu, it may explain your nausea. Not all games support this, and some only in a very limited range, unfortunately.

Ubisoft is still punishing the PC market for being "95% dirty pirates" so I havn't been able to play it yet. Not that I would buy an Ubisoft game at this point. They're still holding back AC3, at least for the UK market.

i'm also completely addicted.
also, something positive: they didn't go with mushy console textures, as usual. they actually bothered to make the game pretty. you can run it on age old hardware, if you want (it works on the weaponized toaster they call xbox, after all), but if you have the hardware, you can make it look incredible.

Absolutely love it. Most fun I've had since Skyrim, I love the open ended 'do whatever the hell how want however the hell you want to do it' vibe.

People commenting on how this game is dull, I fear just lack the imagination to make it fun.

does that mean you might do a song about it? Because that might be an intereresting song.

OT: Well I haven't got it but I am definitely getting it for Christmas.

Wait, it's not out-

Oh...

Hmmm...

Well, at least Yahtzee has nothing to complain about this time.

Yeah, but this game isn't exactly coming across as your average shooter. I'd honestly trade all those in as long as it has everything else that WOULD make this a Skyrim with guns. Or like Fallout 3/NV really.

Plus, let's do look at Fallout 3 or NV, the shooting mechanic sucked donkey balls, and the enemies with their AI were retarded as all hell. Farcry3 can't be worse than that. 0.o
