Just got it in my youtube frontpage. It certainly looks interesting...which I've probably said about all the Assassin Creed games but this time especially so. I guess if this one is actually a challenge to play through I'll look into buying it. So far every AC title is sleep-inducingly easy to play.

Anyway, here it is for those who havn't checked it out yet.

It better not be overly anti-british. It looks way too anti-british at the moment. The free running bits look cool ish, not enough of them though, too much combat.

THey better have American Templars. The British aren't that evil.

It was a concern of mine too but they have to be anti-something. A game with no distict baddy is a lame thing indeed.

I haven't played the previous AC games (I do intend to), so I can't really make any comparisons, but I will say it looks nifty. Kinda odd to fight soldiers armed with rifles and you have a bow, but whatever. Still looks nifty.

The first AC game since the first one to genuinely pick my interest.

They have a chance to make it a bit less black and white than that, as in they could have the Templars be behind the scenes on both sides pulling the strings for whatever purpose. I doubt they would make it as simplistic as having all the British as bad guys.

As for the video, well there wasn't a great deal of gameplay. The highlight was seeing the running through the house; that's a pretty big addition when you think about it. I was hoping to see a bit more of the treetop running.

I really hope it's more than just slaughtering Redcoats, but so far every trailer has shown the British as token 'stormtooper' villains while the Americans are portrayed with more patriotism than a 1940s Captain America comic.

Love it. Revelations didn't grip me in the first hour or two, but I'll get back to it at some point. This game looks excellent. I love that we'll be able to stalk around in the wilderness.

"Yay"... I guess.

I'll probably get this eventually, but it's not a day-one, not even close.

The AC series has started to founder lately. The story was always a mess and it's only gotten messier over the years. The characters and dialogue are painfully bland. The gameplay keeps getting bogged down by unnecessary bullshit. The open-worldiness and sidequests inevitably sabotage any sense of pacing or direction.

Also, the games have this irritating way of trying to make you feel like a "badass" without any effort on the player's part. I'm not one to scream about "dumbing down" or demand that every game be a big challenge, but pulling off assorted badassery just isn't satisfying when it feel like the game is running on autopilot.

Wait, isn't this new Assassin partly British though? I'm still wondering who he is fighting against and who he is fighting for.

The extension of disbelief being asked from this game is ridiculous. How is the protagonist walking around with that outfit in 1770s and is not detained for suspcious behaviour and "blends" into the crowd, the assassin way? Plus, it kind looks ugly, in my opinion.

Gameplay wise, there seems to be too much emphasis on combat that is also ludicrous. So the guy is doing the whole melee thing while being surrounded by guys with muskets and no one fires a shot? The devs are stretching the whole medieval assassin MO waaaaaaaaaaay too far. Don't these guys ever update their methods of delivering death?

PS: what's with the brand survey captcha? It seems...well..more invasive than I feel comfortable. It's no longer just asking if I'm human but also looking into my buying preferences.

Well I interpreted the "I will fight the enemy, no matter their allegiance" line to mean that their will be enemies from both sides.

Also, think about it. This guy is part Native American, part British. I doubt their's going to be much flag waving and shouting of 'MURRICA!' from him.

Also, It's already established canon that George Washington is a Templar. So unless they're retconning that it's highly likely you'll fight him at some point.

Also, Ubisoft is French. They hate both the British and the Americans.

I honestly think Ubisoft is misleading us... the american patriotism sounds borderline imperialistic, which is what the Assassins fight in the first place. I would not be in the least surprised if the main antagonists are the Americans.

Personally, don't care about the whole anti-brit thing. The other games have used specific nationalities to use as bad guys and I doubt Ubisoft would make a story in an AC game that clear cut. As for what the trailer showed, holy crap it looks good! I like the idea of playing a role in a huge conflict. The scenes that showed Connor running around a huge battlefield with hundreds of soldiers involved was really impressive and the combat actually looks like it's gonna catch up with the promises that were made with every game in the series. Already ordered and cannot wait.

It looked quite good, but all the killing of evil brits just made me think of...

But hey, we're already the Empire, and the Helghast. At least this time giving the bad guys british accents will be historically accurate.

Oh, you mean the land you casually strolled into and stole from natives a few decades ago? That land? Thats now yours and only yours?
You realize he's half Native American, right?

I was thinking the same thing. I hope it's like the first game, where you were kind of behind the scenes and killing templars regardless of whether they were christian crusaders or muslim.

I know Ubisoft is Canadian, but I'm pretty sure most of their audience is American, and with this source material it is very easy to be rather jingoistic. On the other hand, maybe they're thinking they'll just market it like that? Seems rather cynical to me, but then I'm not a marketing executive.

My other fear is one that I haven't seen brought up as much; that they're going to go with that whole saintly natives vs bastard whites trope (see Pocahontas, Avatar, etc.). They don't seem to be heading in that direction in the trailors very much but it's still a possibility and one I really hope they don't go with.

Still, I remain hopeful for AC3.

Well, French Canadian.

...So they hate the British, Americans *AND* English Canadians.

I'll still remain cautious until I see proof that the combat isn't as ridiculously easy as the previous games. The only part that caught my eye was when he was running through the house.
