So... I've been a little baffled by this, does everyone know about the new Hulk that's starting post-Secret-Wars? Because I've seen barely anything about it and that's kind of surprising. When Thor first got swapped out into FosterThor, that news was everywhere. Seriously, there were loads of threads about it on here and there were ones dedicated to Bendis clumsily bi-erasing Iceman but the new Hulk doesn't warrant it?
I ask because both those stories were praised for adding diversity, and while they do I do also think they were done pretty badly in both cases. But I think I'm liable to like the Hulk one because it has a mile of precedence (which was duly ignored in the Thor case, once more being frustrated by that).
The new character taking over does add diversity (and this is now where we have the fun 'name a mainstream comic character who's of East Asian descent besides Glen from Walking Dead' game, which is surprisingly difficult) but it's also using one that's been established in the comics for years and who kind of fits the narrative well. Plus, we're getting Maestro ongoing so it'll be nice to see a different thinking Hulk try to outwit that.
So... yeah, I think that if 'diversity in comics' warrants a response, the new Hulk ought to as well. Am I wrong? Is this not a newsworthy change in the status quo? Is race in comics no longer as important as gender? Are these all suitably hyperbolic and inflammatory to prompt a response?
RESPONSES AHOY!
(also Legend of Zelda: A Link to A Source in case anyone needs it
