Thoughts on the Sonic Boom trailer?

Also in the trailer it states that this is NOT the final product. So if the models look iffy in some places, rest assured that there will be fine tuning involved.

I will also like to show you the standalone concept art pictures which more or less resemble the final product

Me personally, I'm not too hot with the trailer (the music especially. Damn you America for driving dubstep into the ground)

However I'm really REALLY liking the character designs for all of them.

Knuckles I'm basically indifferent towards.

Tails looks cute as heck (and they finally got his voice right.)

Amy's design is a lot better then her last one. Actually I haven't like Amy's design since the original one from Sonic CD.

Sonic looks adorable (I like things with scarves on them okay) I also noticed that his arms are no longer peach.
I quite like the look. It doesn't look like he's trying to be "2cool4school"

I'm personally holding off my opinion on the trailer.

Also as ET said in another thread this game doesn't appear to be made by Sonic Team. Not sure if this will be a good thing or a bad thing. Since they did start to get their act together in the last few games.

What do you guys think?

well that was . . . interesting such a weird trailer it's in english on french site, redesigned characters, dubstep?, robots with laser swords. Well it's the most interested I have been in sonic for a while even if it is just to see what the hell that was all about

Yeah, the music in the trailer wasn't good. I hope the soundtrack doesn't reflect that. The orchestral stuff before and after the dubstep was more palatable but a bit generic.

Didn't see enough of the gameplay to judge it; bits looked a bit like Sonic Heroes which I found basically fun, though it had far too many bottomless pits.

I like the new designs, Sonic and Tails especially. I'm sure I'll get used to Knuckles, and it does fit his typical role better.

Amy looks anorexic, and Knuckles looks like he's been hitting the same gym as Chris Redfield, but I don't mind Tails and Sonic's designs.

As for the trailer as a whole, it looks great, but well, so did Sonic '06 before it was released, so I'll hold judgement on the game itself until I can get hands on with it.

I know I'll inevitably end up buying it day one anyway, so none of this particularly matters =P

I hated the trailer extra more because of the dubstep.

As for the character designs, I'm fine with all of them (Sonic isn't changed that much, make sense that Tails has some tool gears since he's a mechanic and Amy being the sterotypical female anthro character who is the only one who's fully dress while the males are technically naked) except for Knuckles. I'm not used to seeing him being more taller and beef up and his knuckles (well his hands) being normal sizes.

Trailer for both the game and show did catch my eye but the dubstep song I'd admit wasn't for the best of choices.

Their designs look decent at best with Tails looking a bit more grown up since the Unleashed days, the same could be said with Sonic and possibly Amy, Knuckles however looks like he's taken up the steroids but I'd guess it suits his character since he's always been about smashing first, asking later.

Still looking forward to the show and game regardless.

I've yet to play a 3D Sonic game that I've enjoyed, and I don't think this is going to be the exception. Also I find Knuckles terrifying. Those proportions just aren't right.

The game itself looks like it might be good. I'm pretty meh on all of the chracter designs except for Tails. It's odd seeing Knuckles so big, I kinda don't understand why Rose is the only one wearing actual clothes instead of just accessories(yeah I know she always wears clothes but it always looks so odd compared to others, like either they all wear clothes or they don't), and Sonic looks like he's been taking fashion tips from Nathan Drake.

I'm going to give it the opportunity to surprise me, but my first impression has been

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU BASTARDS DO TO MY CHILDHOOD?!?!?!"

The concept art does absolutely nothing to show how ugly the character models look in the trailer, which is an absolute disgrace if the studio has actually been working on the game for two years already like they say. Knuckles is an abomination, Sonic's quills and legs in-game look ridiculous, Tails looks good, and Amy looks okay though in the trailer she is sporting extremely dead eyes. Not to mention Sonic's scarf just looks silly and the bandages are dumb as hell. Why are their shoes bandaged? And they really didn't all need to be even taller.

As far as the gameplay goes, that's why I'm going to give it the chance to shock me. Gameplay trailers are always made to look cool, so I'm reserving judgement until I see what can be determined to actually be a full level from the game, but from the snippets they've shown I'm decidedly "Eh" about it. I went back to Sonic Heroes a few months ago, and it really didn't hold up well because the level designs did absolutely nothing to take advantage of the different character abilities. I obviously can't say whether or not this game would do the same, but from what I've seen so far all I have to say is -
I don't play Sonic to get a taste of Rachet & Clank or Jak & Daxter, I play Sonic to get a taste of Sonic! And the last time they tried to do multiple gameplay styles with multiple characters, we got Sonic '06. And the Sonic Adventure games don't hold up that well today either.

So, yeah. Pretty soured on the whole thing. This is basically my DmC and one of the very few times where I go completely against my own policy of waiting until I know more about something before getting upset about it.

I don't have a Wii U, but I might watch the Cartoon, or perhaps if my bro gets a Wii U I'll buy it. It actually looks alright to me personally. It has to try really hard to be worse then 06, so who knows it might be at least passingly good.

The only way for anything to be worse than 06 is to be an completely buggy and incomplete game.

So far, Aliens: Colonial Marines was a runner up on that front.

I want this game on the Wii U specifically.

From what I've heard on Destructoid this game is made by the same team that was responsible for Jak and Daxter (or was it Ratchet and Clank- a lot of back and forth on this one) Destructoid also has the English version of the trailer. That's good because this explictely says the game is still in the process of fine tuning. It better be. The models look just a bit rushed. Especially with Amy's eyes.

I think I'll edit that in the description.

I saw the trailer a bit earlier today and though it looks pretty fun, so far anyway. I don't think I'll watch the cartoon but I haven't watched a Sonic cartoon since the 90's anyway. As for the character designs, it makes sense for Knuckles to be more muscular considering his role in the lore up to this point. It looks weird to me but it makes sense. I also love the way Tails and Amy look. Sonic looks fine too but I found it kind of odd that his shoes (and I think Tails' shoes) are wrapped up in...that...medical tape I guess. It's going to make rail-grinding difficult.

Anyway, one thing that I read about earlier was how the game ran on CryEngine3 which was also used in Crysis 3 which is a game (according to EA) could not be used on the Wii U. It looks fine to me though and since this is going to be U-exclusive (in terms of home consoles) I just thought that was interesting. I look forward to seeing more from the game but I still have yet to play Lost Worlds.

Game-wise I'll keep my eye on it, seeing as Lost World is sorta in the same category as Unleashed is for me, which is it's decent but nothing to write home about and there are flaws.

In my case, as long as no game is ever as bad as a certain terrible game then I'll give it a chance...

Please note that the video shows slow down and a screwy FPS, and I can tell you it does that on the actual GBA itself, the DS, and on the GameBoy Player.

It could be good. SEGA assured fans that this is an offshoot series and not having anything to do with the main series. I hope it's good (and subsequently successful) because I kind of like it.

The gameplay had me semi interested, though hearing the 3DS game is going to be completely different makes me very angry (I sold my Wii-U for my PS4, so I only own my 3DS now) But the designs-I really see no different except for knuckles who looked like he borrowed a few things from Chris Redfield. From the discussion happening on Destructoid, it's not Insomniac it's Naughty Dog (so I fucked that info up my bad.) they know one of the team members was lead designer of Naughty Dog of the time.
So this seems to be a bunch of ex Naughty Dog and insomniac members. Or at least they have relations to the Jak and Daxter/ Ratchet and Clank series.

Hate Knuckles' redesign - but everyone else looks pretty cute. After freaking out a bit over Sonic he actually won me over in the TV trailer.
That it's being developed in the West can only be a good thing. Sonic Team are possible the most insensitive dev team on the planet. Also - Naughty Dog develeoper, so at least maybe we'll finally get some good stories, or at least lock the guy up who spent twenty minutes writing Sonic Generations and Lost World.
