Thoughts on today's Nintendo Direct?

I really enjoyed today's Nintendo Direct. I noticed that it was almost exclusively sequels and spinoffs, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Yoshi's New Island looks good, and Kirby Triple Deluxe also. The Bayonetta 2 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze trailers kind of made me want to own a Wii U.

The Nintendo eShop titles also look interesting. Shovel Knight has an interesting gimmick, and it could totally pass as an NES title.

What about you guys? Did you like the trailers? Did you expect something else?

I am super psyched for Little Mac in Smash Brothers. It's been one of the characters that I've wanted in Smash for a long time, and it's finally happening. I really want to get a WiiU now, just for this game.

So do Nintendo not realise they're in trouble? The first Direct after their disastrous earnings report seems to say "We're staying the course. No new plans, no new games. Thats whats gonna save the WiiU"

I thought it was solid. We got a release date for MK8, new footage of Bayonetta 2 and X, and GBA games for VC.

They already talked about their new plans in the investors' meeting. Direct is about the games.

I wasn't expecting much this time around seeing as how this was all about Spring releases and such. Oddly enough I was excited for the smalller titles like Pokemon Trozei.

I'm hyped for MK8 and Yoshi's Island. Also happy that some GBA games I always wanted to try are going to make their way to the eshop.

OH! Let's not forget about the new X trailer. Talk about escalation.

All in all, pretty much expected.

The description of the Nintendo Direct was that it was going to focus on upcoming releases in and after the Spring. Nintendo Direct is about the games. Not financial restructuring.

You also should not announce games that are either non existent as of yet or are not ready. Look how torn everyone was over Hyrule Warriors. The game was already criticized for it's looks despite the fact that Nintendo didn't even have a NAME for it yet.

I shall now give you my reaction through the wonderful medium of gifs.

For pretty much all of it...

For the Bayonetta 2 footage at the end.

So yeah, give me that Bayonetta 2! I could really not give a shit that you can play as Bowser's fucking spawn in Mario Kart 8.

Better than most Nintendo Directs in all honesty.

yeah, in all honesty all that business jargon people keep milking shouldn't really be any of our concern anyway. They're just going to keep doing what they're doing. It's like things instantly change in a month and they can start showing stuff that they just starting making. We got more than enough with stuff like the Little Mac reveal, the Inazuma Eleven announcement, GBA VC, Mario Kart 8, the X teaser, Bayonetta 2 (and I must say that Lumen Sage has an astoundingly sexy voice) etc. Considering how sleepy of a month Feb. is it's like finding an oasis in a desert. More than enough stuff grabbed my attention so I'm good for awhile.

It sold me on MK8, Yoshi's Island, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and the new Smash Bros. Now I just need to pick up a Wii U.

Well, sure, Iwata could have been more blunt and said "We tried to pander to the hardcores with the N64 and the Gamecube, fuckers never showed up, so now we're not taking them andtheir flights of fancy into account", given that it has been Nintendo's policy since the original DS and said Hardcore never caught the pretty obvious hint.

I'm looking forward to Kirby Triple deluxe. That's it, really. Also, I think doing Yoshi's Island again is incredibly redundant.

Kirby and Smash look great, but I'm depressed that there's STILL no news on Dragon Quest.

But hey, i didn't see Inazuma 11 coming.

It was nice, glad to know Smash Bros. officially has a 2014 release, unless it gets delayed, which I wouldn't mind necessarily. Plus, Little Mac's trailer was really awesome, and I was hoping he would show up in Smash eventually.

Considering I really don't like the Koopalings, I was very disappointed in the "new Mario Kart characters you might not have expected."

Kirby looks fun, as usual, not too excited for the Yoshi game at the moment, but that could change.

The rest of the news didn't really excite me to be honest, but there was a lot of stuff in the direct, so I think it was decent overall.
