I know random question but I'm sort of curious I'm rewatching Yu Yu Hakusho and I thought it held up really well and I want to know everyone's thoughts on it.
It was just one arc. It stops doing that soon after, from what I recall.Saelune said:I liked it for a bit, but it kept turning into a tournament anime, and bleh. Stick with the ghost/demon investigator part.
Maybe she just likes the guys? It's an underrated Shonen anime though.Johnny Novgorod said:Well I know my girlfriend is into it, which tells me either it's some kind of pervy Japanese thing or it invites that kind of interpretation.

Fixed that for you.Marik2 said:It wasjustall but one arc.
2 and 4 weren't tournments they basically fought against the bad guys.madwarper said:Fixed that for you.Marik2 said:It wasjustall but one arc.
There's the initial arc, where he's dead. Then, he comes back to life...
1) Tournament to get Genkai's training
2) Tournament with the Four Beasts
3) Dark Tournament
4) Tournament against former Spirit Dective
5) Tournament for control of the Demon World
I actually remember all of the Sensui's 7 (especially Doctor) though I do agree the last arc kinda sucked.Mahorfeus said:It had a pretty strong run, up till the end of the Dark Tournament arc. Everything after that was a mess.
The entire Chapter Black arc was... bizarre. The Sensui Seven were all forgettable (except Sniper, I guess), and Sensui himself was cool until his whole multiple personality thing eked out. It all went downhill fast when Yusuke's demonic heritage was revealed with pretty much no foreshadowing, setting the stage for the next mess of an arc.
Speaking of which, the whole Demon World arc was just a clusterfuck. The tournament wasn't even really shown in the original manga - we just got its result. So technically, all of the fighting we actually got to see in the anime was filler.
If I remember correctly, the anime left out the last "arc" from the manga, which I believe was just the writer putting their foot down and ending the damn series.
So overall, my memories of it are pretty fond. I just stopped caring after Toguro was defeated.
