You guys are waaaay over-estimating how long its going to take them to add this functionality to the game. Remember they already had lan-play as an option and then removed it.

And yet again this is a case of only viewing the world from the perspective you get to see it at. While over in the US your internet may be fast enough to handle multiplayer on battlenet, over here in NZ where our internet is criminally slow, we don't like you guys deciding for us that its no big deal because everyone has good enough internet to play it. We're just getting alienated, will nobody think of the little guy?

Hmm well if this does work out for the protestors then they will have more to protest about when the game gets delayed again to fix it. I do wonder how far along in production they are, guess we'll have to wait and see how they react.
From what I hear the biggest thing holding them back is Battlenet 2.0 (not actual name).

Now I've signed it too. Even though I might not get Starcraft 2, I signed it cause it supports a good cause for gamers. Also, if I get it, I want to LAN with my brother.

I don't even play over on LAN but it definitely should be there.

Ok first off, this petition crap has to stop.

The left for dead 2 petition didn't 'work', valve had always had the intention of releasing more content for l4d. If anything, they might have released DLC for f4d earlier.
It's not crap. The fans really want the LAN to make life easier and they might as well try something instead of giving up and sitting on their asses doing nothing!

Have a little faith in the community.

I fail to understand why LAN is such a big deal. If you want to have a lan party, just get a wireless router or a regular router and have everyone just go to the same game via Bnet. People are blowing this so far out of proportion. It's not like they are taking away your ability to play with friends.

And if Starcraft is a national sport in Korea, wouldn't it make more sense to include LAN in the game? Just a thought, because, you know, that's how they usually play the game in their tournaments...
Exactly! They'll just move on to a different game.

I know me and my friends got pissed when we realized CoD4 didn't have LAN capabilities. We didn't go off and buy a copy for each of us...we just ended up playing Halo3. (we prefer CoD4, but we prefer not wasting money and feeling cheated more...)

Internet is not always available or reliable, and it's silly to assume that somehow BNet completely voids LAN. Hell, my laptop barely gets a "Low" raitng of 2 bars on a good day, how the hell would I play BNet smoothly?

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if some Koreans commited suicide if StarCraft 2 didn't have LAN. Seriously, It'd be depressing, but not surprising...

there is no way to defend the removal of LAN in any game without sounding like and asshole fanboy.
LAN is just as important as online.

Well, for starters, it's Blizzard. I've gotten to the point where I don't doubt their intelligence whenever they make a move that the rest of us deem as a shot in the foot.

Whats wrong with just hooking up to Bnet and making passworded games? You can all play in the same room, and if its as good as Blizzard says, people should want to. This would be a valid complaint to me if said parties outright lacked internet though.

Its Blizzards way of making sure everyone buys a copy as well. Enough people just buy one disc to install it on multiple computers, and they likely just removed LAN to remove this form of pirating.

Though I have no intention of buying the game, the fact that an rts game like starcraft not supporting lan play is just ridiculous.
