Well, I don't think there is an issue with people being ignorant of what's going on in North Korea. The problem comes down to our morality preventing us from doing anything about it. Simply put the goverment over there isn't going to stop it's behavior, people have been asking them to do so for years and years now. The central issues involved are both a matter of those in power wanting to hold onto those reigns and having the military might to do it, and the simple fact that like most impoverished nations they simply don't have the resources for their population to live better. Nobody could come in and deal with the underlying conditions because there are only so many resources on the planet, and anythng that goes there has to come from somewhere else. In the end the only way to change things is to go in there and make them stop. This would involve invading North Korea, killing millions upon millions of people, and then pretty much occupying it as a puppet nation. There might be benefits to doing this, but they would be long term, in the short term we'd wind up with tons of blood on our hands, and very few people appreciating our actions since we just massacred a whole bunch of them.
In short, more people whining about what a mess North Korea is, is pointless, nobody is willing to do what would be nessicary to change it. As a result people tend to whine about the problems, while waiting for some magical solution that solves everything in a nice, clean, and moral way where innocent people don't have to die in massive numbers.
I think to be honest they are trying to make this game seem "relevent" to the same extent "Red Dawn" did when it first game out. I dont think there is a serious attempt to draw attention to the issues, because everyone knows about it.
That's my opinion at any rate, I know many people are going to disagree with me.
