I don't know about you, but sometimes, I feel like a thread-killer. Like, the moment I post, everyone is going to lose all interested, mumbling about how Lucem ruins every discussion. I know that's not true (I hope D: ) because I can't possibly be that famous, I doubt anyone recognizes me.

So, have you ever felt like a thread-killer, or do you feel opposite? As if your post will bring the masses and make it a 5-10 page discussion?

If you want to make sure nobody ignores your post, just include a point about homosexuality being evil, gender politics or the definition of RPG*.

Seriously, works every time.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way, it's not a curse, but instead a gift. The ability to destroy or preserve threads is yours.

So I guess this thread was doomed from the start, then? Well...

I don't know what I add to the discussion. Probably just grilled cheese sandwich references.

This is very true, though. You could have used your powers for much of the last month and a half.

"I never really wanted this thread to continue."

If you play your thread-killing off as part of your Xanatos Gambit [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/XanatosGambit], it comes off way cooler.

Either people respond to you and you are validated, or the thread dies and you got the last word.

WAIT! First off I do recognize you, you're that girl that can draw really good and did the Pen Pal thing aren't you?

As for thread killer, well I never feel like I killed the thread but it does seem like my coment has no relevance to it at all, which is true almost all the time and are pretty much ignore by most people, but I think that's pretty normal.

Oh yeah? Well why don't you take that attitude with real problems, like poverty? Stop it with your first world stuff.

the definition of RPG
Seesh, is it so hard? The computer RPGs evolved from the PnP ones. Therefore the games that share the most charactersistics with them, are RPGs - this includes playing a role but also various statistics and character customization (mechanical or just aesthetic). In the end of the day, there is an underlying reason to play computer RPGs and it's more or less the same acroos the genre - different from why you're going to play Red Alert.

Oh... Shit.

OT: I've seen you around OP but I don't think I've ever noticed you kill a thread. It has happened to me - I post and that's it - no one else takes part in a thread. But that's just because a thread has naturally finished its lifespan. And the posters that took part in it aren't around or aren't interested anymore. Nothing to do with me. At least that's what I keep repeating myself as I sob in the corner.

I generally do take note when I come across your comments and I recognize you. Noted your avatar change. But I don't usually have something to say in reply.
Well that's odd, I can't think of anything of note I've said unless you find those wacky stories about how stupid I can be entertaining, and then again I haven't told those in a while well I think I haven't, anyway I have noticed you too, but you're kind of hard to miss though I do remember you thought that my dream of creating dragons by cloning dinosaurs and genetically modifying them was awesome, I think that was quite a while ago though.
EDIT: After doing some digging I found it [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.317886.12946532], as you can see you did say it was awesome.

I just assume no one ever reads my posts. That way, if anyone does reply, it's a pleasant surprise.

Sshhhh. That's not how you should do it. *gives you a diamond encrusted knife* There.

OT: If you want your post read, then you make a name for yourself or get an eye catching avatar. Both works. Make a thread, that way people will become familiar with you. Reply often in thread, people will know your opinions and how far in line are you with them.

Works every time.

There there. There there. It'll all be over soon. Shhhhh.

On Topic:
I'm new enough round these parts to not know the elites. You know the elites. The Cliff and Norms of this little internet outpost. So don't feel bad if I don't know who you are because really, I'm bad with names. (Yeah. That'll work).

As for thread killing, I don't think that thread killing is anyone's claim to fame. Though I have, at times, been the final poster on a topic that's run its course.

It's not thread killing that bugs me though. There are times where I think I've made an AMAZINGLY insightful statement, only to have it drowned out in everything else and ignored (or when I do get responses it's in regards to my avatar >.<). That hurt me people. It hurts me a lot. *Starts sawing at his wrists with spatula*
OMG, that avatar is awesome! Where is it from?

You didn't expect that did you?

Anyway, I think in such a large community, it's fair that some posts may be ignored. Hell, when I comment in a thred that spans for more than 4 pages, I'm sometimes surprised, if somebody notices or comments on that (even if they don't quote me). Besides, with the rule against low content posts, I sometimes find myself unable to add anything. I can't just go "I agree with what this guy says". but then again I have nothing to add. I mean, why rephrase something if it's been said already?

It has happened plenty of times. I go to a thread, see some of the first comments being exactly what I think on the matter and then I leave. Just the other day, I made a long-ish comment (it stretched the post field at least) and somebody then said "I think you're correct but you missed X [adding more detail]". Yes, I did miss X. And I agreed with them. But I couldn't just go "Yeah, you're right". And that's literally all I could say. I wanted to but I couldn't really bring anything new besides that.

So, you may take that as a compliment. And appreciate the irony - if what you say is flawless, people are powerless to say it is.

You're memorable to me in the way that my nickname for you is Senor Logico. Everything just sounds better in Spanish (fake Spanish even).
Thanks! It's nice to hear. I've noticed a fair amount approve of me, but I do feel like I make enemies with some people when I argue with them.
You know what must be done, right? You must crush them, see them driven before you and preferably hear the lamentations of their women. And voila, no more enemies. You remain on good terms with everybody.

I feel like I completely miss the point of most arguments so I normally end them rather effectively but I haven't achieved thread destruction yet.

there are so many times I post in a thread and it dies immediately after. This is no exaggeration, it happens in like 70% of the things I post in.

Well, I disagree. I like potatoes, and I WILL hit anyone who says that they are not awesome.
So, no, I dont kill threads.

I don't find that I kill threads, but that I often end up getting quoted on the threads where I posted my opinion late in the discussion and then slunk away, rather than the low comment threads I like to enter and post in.

I like this plan. I may take it for my own.
