I have frequented many forums over the years, and I've noticed something: I tend to kill topics. I frequently am the last person to post in topics, on occasion have been responsible for topic locking (I'm out of that habit now a days), and now, I discovered, I can even plant the seeds of destruction in a thread.

A recent thread, 'Contrary to popular belief (Link below),' was recently closed in part because of an argument I started and bailed on early on. This has led me to believe that I am an internet toxin, and perhaps I shouldn't post anymore.

So, Escapist... should I stop posting? And who else has here is a thread killer (Besides mods)?

EDIT:

Whoops.

Nah, there isn't any reason for you to stop posting. I say stick around.

I used to think I would kill threads--I still sometimes do, although those are usually in my reviews, which I attempt to bump up to no avail--but I figured that even if I did, it didn't really matter. People were done with the topic, and I just happened to get the last say. Good for me, I guess.

I usually get put on probation before locking a thread. Thing is my arguments are persistent and blunt. If you keep getting threads locked you might actually get banned, so I think the problem will work itself out one way or another.

Threads die, no big deal. Although I like the idea of being an "internet toxin," sowing the seeds of forum destruction.

I like to pretend like a hardcore Glenn Beck supporter, especially on these forums, because often times the reaction is simply worth it. I would post a troll face with it too, but that would make it too obvious. Besides, I hate how religion threads and the like on Escapist are often Atheist arguing with other Atheist at mos. Thus the whole "lack of an opposing team" to argue against kind of kills the fun; so throwing in another opinion, mine or not, at least shakes things up.

TL:DR- Not really thread "Killer" per say, more like... well... "Professional Troll"
Playing Devil's advocate is fine but if you're just posting flames for the sake of arguing then your really part of the problem not the solution to the lack of opposing force. I know many of the Escapist's religious members or those with overwhelminglyminority views are put off from posting in R+P because of the hostility directed at trolls, especially the smart ones...

Keep posting, it doesn't matter what happens when you do.

THANK YOU! I hate the Religion & Politics section because of that.

That must be quite hilarious.

I commented in threads that died too, some of them were locked (and not all of them were about piracy).

Who cares, really? I also like to think of myself as a devil's advocate (similar to Pills-here), only because a bunch of people strengthening their group think is boring. Also, they aren't always right and need the counter opinion to make them think about what they are actually saying.
