Today I created an Off-topic discussion thread, "The world would be a better if..."

I intended for it to be a light-hearted post for quick laughs and light-hearted responses for simple laughs like "World would be better if people didn't come over to my lane in traffic w/o their blinker on." *snare drum* Instead I got replies of unwanted debates. I'm in college so I get enough of that every single day. I was caught in unwanted debates and I'm too tired to post my reasons for certain topics.

I've had to change my thread so I could stop those posts and that got me thinking. What are some threads that you created in the past that got unexpected posts?

Honestly, I could see that coming in your example. The internet is "serious business", after all... [/sarcasm]

This has been annoying me for a while now:

A thread is not a forum.

Please people, get it right.

What are some forums that you created in the past that got unexpected posts?
Generally any thread which I participate in gets an unwanted response at least once.

Like that one Twilight thread where I posted a picture of a beautiful twilit sunset.

Or the recent thread about Modern Warfare 2 Prestige head surgery in which I managed to provoke half the respondents to put down their respective version of the 'Night Vision Goggle noise'.

My latest thread, about the 10 year old who got tasered. I actually wasn't expecting it to be over 400 posts.

Posted a user review a while back now, and had one guy who just keep replying 'You iz God?' to all my posts.

It was weird.

Hee hee, that was funny.

I posted a video of myself playing a blues rock jam in the Escapist Jam sessions, and received a remarkably angry reply telling me I had mislabelled it by calling it 'blues'. (For the record, I knew it was more rock and roll, but the backing track I used was called Devil's Corner Blues, so it made sense).

I started a thread about times when you 'outsmarted teacher' expecting to get some marginally funny stories, and instead a couple of people took it upon themselves to respond angrily and tell us that we were clearly delusional. It was only a joke people.

My last one which was about my technical troubles I was having trying to get virtual box to allow my ipod to be recognized by a windows XP partition.

got a few responses but nothing particularly helpful. Mostly just got people telling me my pre-installed music player should do the job just as well.

[small]but that wasn't the point...[/small]

Government action AND parental rights AND violence in one topic? All you were missing was religion and piracy, and you would have had about 4,000 posts.
So technically a "10 year old Muslim kid gets tasered while downloading Modern Warfare 2" thread should be foolproof!
