This is something that I'm trying to verify or disprove. Not introspection or parroting off what other people say. Just bear with me and do what you can to answer.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Alright, this is for people who have played or are playing Fallout 3. I want you to get into Raven Rock (don't care how or in what version of the game) and start looking at all the yellow preservation tubes. They're the ones that contain ghouls, mutants, Deathclaws, and what-have-you. One of them is abnormal. One of the tubes contains a rather large humanoid that looks as though it may be armored, as in with powersuit armor. This figure should look...roughly Enclave-ish, though you may think it is a super mutant.

Basically, if it's big and mutated and looks like it has powersuit armor, it's the guy I'm wanting you to aim for, to look at carefully. Send images if you can, because I need some viable proof or at least a concensus via what you see with your own eyes.

Is that thing Frank Horrigan? Because I look and I looked...and it seemed like him. Dead, but apparently preserved for some reason. For those of you unaware, Horrigan was the big nasty Enclave member fought at the end of the second game. According to information, he is a uniquely large mutant with human intellect (though he's a psycho) and a custom Enclave power-armor grafted to his body cybernetically, which - coupled with his super-weapons - makes him bloody awful. Now, some of you may say, "Oh, that's just a super mutant.", but I recall there being mutants in tubes and that tube is the only one that contains something that tall and imposing.

I can't say that I saw it as Horrigan when I was in Raven Rock (pc version)...but if it is a preserved Frank Horrigan then once again Bethesda have seriously messed with the Fallout canon.

The Harold tree was a nice addition to the game that fits with the canon but putting a chap I distinctly remember killing and then blowing up in a mini nuclear explosion that consumed the entire Enclave's Poseidon-Oil Platform as the descendant of the Vault Dweller approx 40 years previous to (and several thousand miles to the west of) events in Fallout:3 is really stretching things.

If you're correct and it is supposed to be Horrigan then kudos for the spot, and boo to Bethesda.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I know maybe they could make some DLC to explain it. And then charge you stupid prices for it and only let 360 and PC owners have it. And it would be glitchy.

(In other words bethesda is pulling the same sheite that the rems that made the latest Silent Hill did, introduce a known character to bring in nostalga.)

maybe, just maybe, do you think maybe its JUST A FREAKING EASTER EGG!!! seriously, how much have you actually PLAYED fallout 3? bethesda put so many easter eggs relating to the orginal fallouts in the game you cant go two steps without falling over one of them.

A valid point, I did get bored with FO:3 pretty quick after I convinced the President to kill itself and realised that I'd nearly completed the game without trying. Though I did spend time exploring the map as far as possible and found a fair few easter eggs...

But all I'm really saying as a Fallout:1/2 fanboy is that the easter eggs I found were either a neat reference or fitted into the fallout canon, and that the presence of Horrigan in FO:3 would be out of canon.

I'm not trying to convert or disillusion Bethesda worshipers to the dark side of Interplay/Bioware.

I suppose a valid question of my own would be: just how much have you played fallout:3?

It's not Horrigan. Horrigan is very much dead, and he was simply a more sentient Super Mutant. Hmm, where else have we seen that? Oh, right, Fawkes and Uncle Leo. What you saw is most assuredly the Enclave trying to make another Horrigan since Fawkes can't be bent to thier will and Uncle Leo is a pacifist.

You might be forgetting just how short FO1 and 2 were. The real bulk of all 3 games is the variety of other stuff you can do. If you want to talk just pure time to haul ass through the main story, FO3 is the longest. =\ You can clear FO1 in about 3 hours, FO2 in about 3 and a half, FO3 takes a minimum of I'd say 5, assuming you skipped straight to Rivet City.

And the real joy to be had in FO3 is the side quests and just general exploring. Everyone is required to at least visit Vault's 106 & 108, the Dunwich Building, and Oasis. (yeah yeah, sidequest, but one of the most worth doing)

if it is horrigan i would say that it is a interesting point but i think it is enclave trying to copy the horrigan,
but then again if they do that i wanna fight it....like...now

edinflames:

why does everything have to be cannon or story related? if thats the case one could argue that its just the enclave performing experiments to create another horrigan. but the fact that it looks like him suggests that it was something bethesda put in the game as an easter egg or something like that for the fallout fans.

i played fallout for around 50 hours or so before my computer kicked the bucket, and its one of the first games im going to get back to once i get my computer up and running again.

im not a bethesda fanboy. i see where you and all the other long time fallout fans dislike fallout 3, but at the same time bethesda DID create a damn good game with fallout 3 on its own merits. that being said bethesda put a lot of little things in the game for fans of the old fallouts to find, if you find something relating to fallout 1/2 (like horrigan for example) why does it automatically HAVE to be cannon instead of just something for the fans?

Alright, see now...we're getting somewhere. Relevent discussion and all that. Allow me to answer some of this stuff.

I really don't give a wily-crap about canon (Unless it's cannon, in which case BOOM!), because Fallout games don't have so much a canon as...a loose guideline as to how the events of the wastelands played out. For instance, I DIDN'T kill Harold, so his presence makes sense to ME.

Now then...can I explain Horrigan, even though he's dead, in the wrong place, and it's been quite a number of years? Yes, actually. Being a writer helps with the BS. So, without further ado...my theory. First of all, the tube that he's supposedly in is a preservation tube for study, not for stasis. He, like the other corpses, is embalmed. Now, assuming that it IS him, he fits the offical description, that being a larger-than-normal and smarter-than-normal super mutant with powersuit armor grafted to his body. That is his official design.

So, if it's him, then I believe what happened is...the Ridley Effect. Horrigan's body survived and was somehow recovered despite the problem of a gigantic explosion being involved. His DEAD body. It happened to Ridley, and it could happen here. Why? Because Fallout doesn't pay attention to physics anyhow. The point is...dead body recovered...and probably reconstructed. And when they find that it's impossible to resurrect the bastard, they preserve and study him at the current central base, Raven Rock.

Do I give a damn about what Bethesda does with the Fallout canon? No. Why? Because I enjoyed the game. If I enjoyed the game, then FORGET canon. Fallout 3 was a bold step, a good experiment. If there's alot that the die-hards consider wrong, then they will have established where the kinks are and maybe they can make something better next time. (That's a big maybe, but I'm willing to foot the bill to find out.)

Oh, and I can definitely say that Uncle Lee is not in the tubes at Raven Rock. I met him AFTER Raven Rock blew up. More than once.

Also, the thought of the Enclave making more like Horrigan worries me. See, their actions at that military base (where all the FEV dip was) would coincide with that. But what worries me is...I have a more evil version of the Enclave...and runaway genetic experimentation is one of the things THEY do. If Bethesda starts thinking the way I do...we're all in alot of trouble.

Ho-hum. I hate to burst your bubble, but there are a variety of things in there that simply look weird. For instance, I remember a Deathclaw among other things hooked up in there.

What floor was this Hoorigan-lookalike on?

Granted, things can just be weird. I don't remember the floor. If you can get pictures, please by all means... It's just in one of the science sectors.

If Horrigan's back then I seriously want a crack at him with the MIRV. Let's see you kill me six times when I have the power of eight miniature nukes. At once.

But this is probably the Enclave trying to remake him, I mean, he was THE most powerful soldier in that particular army. Makes that cop-out Autumn douche look like a push-over final fight.

Pffft, Autumn. I wanna know where the Enclave was hiring for the Capital Wastelands. I let him go, since he was against the FEV being used.

Horrigan would actually endorse Eden's plan, since he didn't consider himself a super mutant. It'd be funny to see him dying and denying what he is.

Great game, absolutley worth the Fallout name. I hated it with all my passion before actually playing it (lolz, Oblivun wit gunz!!!1; first person shooter!) but now I can't understand the vitrol and hatred that is spewed upon it over at No Mutants Allowed.

Jesus, those guys would really prefer a 800x600 2D Fallout 3.
