Time out

Have you ever bought a game only to get a short play time out of it before it breaks? What lengths did/would you go to for fixing it?

My example is, WoW: wrath of the lich king. When it came out i saw the new class people walking around and i said "holy crap they are cool" so i went out and got the expansion, installed it and now it wont let me play because it keeps trying to download a patch i ALREADY have over and over and over. So i got a new disk drive for my comp incase it was that and it didnt help much (apart from me getting old games back onto the comp) so now im waiting for blizzard to reply to e-mails about it.

p.s. can somebody with a WoW account go onto the nagrand server and send in-game mail to "huntings" to tell him what happened to me? last thing i said to him was "back in a while" (tell me if you did it)

I got Lost Odyssey, put the disk in and it kept crashing on the intro movie. Went back to replace it. Stupid sale person had given me a 2nd hand copy when I had payed for a new one.

Yeah, I got Splinter Cell: Double Agent for the PC a while back and it kept hanging in the one part where you have to make your first big choice in the JBA HQ. They lead me into a room and an ingame cinematic was supposed to play, but it never did, so they just stood there. It wasn't frozen because I could still see them breathing. So I had to email Ubisoft about it and they were giving me all sorts of useless tips on how to fix it, which didn't work. I uninstalled it and I currently have it sitting here gathering dust right now... Maybe I'll try it again one day i I'm feeling lucky.
