I just mentioned in another post about games that I played and enjoyed recently and talked about how I took a trip down memory lane by playing all the old Timesplitters games on my oft neglected PS2, then after a little online research discovered that there is a fourth one in the offing. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Is anyone else as excited about it as I am? Does anyone else reckon that this could well be the defining multiplayer online FPS for the current generation of consoles? The very fact that (in my opinion) the series just got better and better would make me to believe that this next instalment in the series could be an absolute barn-burner.

That could be a new multiplayer game for it. Burn the other teams barn with flamethrowers. Or by throwing burning monkeys at it. Jesus, they should give me a job.

I heard about it a good while back here's a small trailer (I think the trailer is fake but it might be real.)

It's been way too long since the last Timesplitters, and this one seems to have been in development for quite a while now, largely due to free radical going into administration and then being bought by crytek. I just hope that crytek UK continues with its development.

There is a 4th but there is some fear amongst fans for one reason.
Free Radical went bust and got bought out by Crytek (Far Cry, Crysis, Jesus Cry-st Superstar) so now they're known as Crytek UK.
And as a result the 4th game MAY use the Cry engine.
Which upsets some people. Personally I'll reserve judgement until I play it.

Played Future Perfect, loved it, unlocked loads of stuff and can't play it because my Xbox is broken.
Playing through TS2, I don't think it's quite as polished (ie it's too hard for me wah wah)

I do not like the idea of using the Cry Engine. Surely it wouldn't really need it? Gorgeous, ultra-realistic visuals weren't what the Timesplitters games were about. It could be the first major FPS (that I care to know about) that is aimed solely at console gamers.

It may come. I personally want it to, just so that it can be as awesome online as Halo or COD4, which it probably would be. I WANT NINJA MONKIES WITH MACHINE GUNS!!

Personally I want to see more content.
I like Future Perfect but it is quite insubstantial compared to TS2: less modes, less characters.
I just hope it doesn't become vapourware...

Yeah that's why I would prefer it to keep the original graphical style (albeit with improvements in keeping with the new console technology) but with more content and a lovely massive multiplayer suite. It would be awesome.

Yes please. These games are my favorite shooters of the last console generation, and perhaps period. Nothing is more entertaining than beaning a zombie monkey in the head with a brick.
