According to this site, Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical Design, has not-so-recently acquired a new trademark registration for the last installment of the Timesplitters series. It's possible that this could mean a re-release of the game for the PC.

Maybe this is the first sign of new life for the franchise? And even if it's not, I think it's about time PC gamers finally got the opportunity to pit the Ninja/Zombie Monkey against foes like The Deerhaunter Thoughts?

Edit: Also, just as a fan of the series, I'll put up a link to the petition campaigning for the development of Timesplitters 4. If you love the series, in all its craziness, please support the cause. Crytek UK has said before that if the masses demand it, they'll deliver. http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?TS4tcbd1

If they do I will buy it instantly. I am not even joking. If it does come out, the moment its released, I will buy it.

I don't care what they charge. I will pay anything to get that game onto my PC.

Its my favorite FPS game, and my favorite FPS series. Easily in my opinion the best. Full of personality, funny characters, amazing multiplayer, and is just a big ball of fun.

Let it happen. Please for the love of all that is good in the world let this happen!

I will do that exact dance if this happens. Well, I'll do it more awesomely than I normally can...

It's not necessarily meaningless. Sure, Crytek reviving the series is about as likely as Bobby Kotick resigning on Wednesday at 3:47 EST, but it's not impossible (and if I'm right on that Kotick thing, I'm changing my forum handle to "Nostradamus"). They're on the record saying a big enough public outcry would give them reason to revive the series, and it's possible that this release could be their way of testing the waters.

^ Aye, i'd join it fore sure!

Considering the current trend towards realism, a remastered timesplitters 3 would be a refreshing dose of cartoony sillyness :)

I have never liked the one game I played called Time Spliters.... or something something....

What game should I play that makes all this internet love exist?

What game, for what system, does everyone mean is such a great game? I want to try it, even thought it will probably seem dated to me, like that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.

Please help me prove myself wrong tho!
TimeSplitters 2 or TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (the third game in the seris). They're on the PS2 and Xbox. The Gamecube too I believe. I prefer the second one myself, but most people like Future Perfect more so that's the one you should go with of the two of them.

Who is with me!
I shotgun Cortez. All versions of him.

Edit
Or maybe Tipper or even....
Ok, I shotgun first choice of character in the game. It's been a while and I sold off my copy of Future Perfect a while ago in a brief moment of monumental stupidity so I can't remember which character I used to use.

That's my issue. I forgot if there are any hot female playable characters. :(
They're a little low quality, but you should be able to make out the characters from these videos:

So no 360 version? I seem to remember possibly an original xbox game that failed to explain how to bring down some barrier or wall (first hour of the game, tutorial part perhaps), and that's the game I didn't get into..... is it to late for me to experience this piece of heaven that people try to pass off as a great game? Or am I just out of luck for missing the boat on some fanboy game?

I hear people mention this game next to Halo, that is rather silly.... I hear this game mentioned next to COD..... also silly...

If this game is better than, or can be compared to, or has anything equal to the enjoyment of previous games released in the same vein... then it can be bought and or acquired right now. Please link a way to experience this great game if you think it has any merit to it.

If not, then I would hope you might try Zeno Clash. At least that old game tries to do something original.
Just last generation consoles for the series. The studio behind them, Free Radical Design, was started by people that had left Rare after finishing up Goldeneye and Perfect Dark so that should give you some idea of the quality of the series.

If you can buy off Amazon/eBay you should be able to find a copy of them. Which I would recommend as it is easily one of the greatest FPS series ever made. Also, that Zeno Clash game looks pretty decent.

As I said before in the Timesplitters chatroom, I don't think Timesplitters will be the same on the PC. It just seems that Timesplitters is primarily an old school console shooter - look at the way you can't jump, or the aiming scheme (well, of the orginal and 2 anyway). I think they'd feel out of place on the PC.

This isn't such an issue with Future Perfect, as the aiming scheme on that game is similar to modern FPSes anyway. But you can't have the whole 'wobbly crosshair' thing using a mouse, and I think if you remove that from the earlier games, you remove something special.

What's more likely is this is just me being a big Timesplitters fanboy. Of course, as I am a good Timesplitters fan, I will let Crytek do everything they want with the series to make sure it earns lots of money, and its future is secured.

Level creation. Online multiplayer. Do the math: It'd be instant-buy for me too... as long as it was no more than $20.

I'm I the only one who things Mouse+WASD wouldn't work well with Timesplitters? I mean, it's quite arcade-esque and the quickness of aiming with the mouse might sort of ruin it. Don't get me wrong, I'll get it for my PC if it means I can play it again, but I'm hoping for the much coveted Timesplitters 4.

This pretty much. The only game in the series I've ever played is the original, but I loved it. The thing is, I loved it because unlike Halo and the games that followed, it was a console FPS that knew it was a console FPS, and didn't try to shoehorn things that only work with mouse and keyboard onto a dual shock controller. The series wouldn't feel right on a PC, and this is coming from someone who loves both the game and mouse and keyboard control.

I may not have played many of the Timesplitters games (I only played Future Perfect), but... hell fucking yes!

If it does happen I hope it isn't a lazy port. Even if they don't add anything really new, if they keep everything that made the original great and keep the map editor (possibly giving a bigger storage capacity) then I will be pre-ordering it as soon as possible.

Online play would be epic.

I agree with this, but I think it should happen anyway. Look at the amount of people here who would buy it. Re-releasing the game would be very profitable for Crytek UK and could even secure a sequel.

I'll probably buy it, even though I already have it on Gamecube. Mainly for online multiplayer, that will be kick-ass if it happens. I hope it's not a lazy port.

I myself have sent many many letters to Crytek urging them not to kill the franchise, and I keep getting the same computerized corporate response.

I miss R-1-oh-seven.
I have done the same, i'm sure i've gotten the exact same response as you.

Just as a shameless plug i'd like to direct everyone to the TimeSplitters User Group
